Christmas snow!
I woke up at 4:30 and looked outside.
The ground was white, the privet hedge across the road was white!
I could see light shining under Kate's bedroom door across the hallway; she had stayed up all night to finish my Christmas shawl!
She said it was actually meditative and restful, and that the Syfy channel had a Star Trek Next Generation marathon going through the night. She said (no doubt lying, perfect person that she is) that she wasn't even tired, that it was a Christmas miracle...
I (overcome with guilt) made her hot chocolate with marshmallows and buttered toast (at six thirty, while she attached tassels to the shawl ends).
We will go to my sister's house across town at nine, and there are all our gifts, except my beautiful mohair shawl that Kate is wrapping for me in white and silver paper...
