The nandina bushes in front of the house are bent over with ice, there are icicles hanging off the shed, the bamboos at the back of the yard by the woods are drooping over, their bushy tops glazed over and so heavy they are lying on the ground at the pets' cemetery.
The door mat on the back porch is a sheet of ice, and the bricks it is lying on are glossy. It's too scary out there!
Our power is on, but thousands of people in Knoxville, where apparently more freezing rain fell, are without electricity.
A salt truck flipped over and dumped its load of thousands of pounds of salt onto a residential lawn.
People were shopping at the Turkey Creek shopping centers and had to check into motels last night when they got caught by the ice.
Kate, who is off today, is knitting Christmas presents; I am (in between posting here) reading my murder mystery.
By ten or so, the ice will turn into rain.
The weather people keep saying: "Stay inside. Don't fall down! Don't drive!"
They are all wearing cleats, like Everest climbers.
