When you wake up at 4am with sever abdominal pain and you can't lay down, sit or walk...you fall asleep and it wakes you right back up... you just try anything to avoid going to the doctor but realize the pain is bigger than you... your only option at 4:30a is to go to the ER. :P

I had gall bladder problems ten years ago... had the bad boy removed. I can tell you what my symptoms were and you can see if it sounds like what you had. An attack would start as discomfort in my stomach -- it would almost feel like maybe I was hungry, but then it would feel like there was a rock sitting in my stomach. Then quickly it would turn into pain that kind of radiated around my midsection.
It would last maybe a couple hours but for me, at least, I don't think it ever really abated and then returned again. The pain was so bad that it made me nauseous. A hot bath seemed to help the pain a little bit.
Gall bladder issues seem to come up after you eat a fatty meal (again, at least they did for me, I can't speak for everybody!)
If this is what's wrong, the surgery isn't too bad these days, they can do it laproscopically.
*hugs*
I hope you can get to the bottom of this quickly!
Oh one more thing... after my first attack it was about four months until my second, and then they started happening with some frequency, like every two weeks or so.

some symptoms for dif illnesses are similar but you couldnt have described my symptoms any better...
I have had that hunger-pain feeling before (when not hungry... and even right after a meal) a couple of times a year but never as severe as Sunday morning. I have always suffered from abdominal pain... I am nauseous around the times the pain has occured... but then again IM always nauseous... for no reason what so ever.
I can't recall for the life of me what I ate on Saturday... :P
thanks for your help I will definitely call the doc and make an appointment.
*hugs*
