God, it's been well over a year since
my first DiTL. A lot has changed since then. I've traded Randolph-Macon in fair Virginia for the Big Apple and completed my first year of graduate school.
I present Friday, June 10th in 64 pictures. A day of dog-sitting, Cuban food eating, and subwaying with cameos from Ella and Abi.
Good morning, DiTL!
As per DiTL tradition, time check!
My brain isn't fully functioning yet, so I dick around online for a while. Get my gossip on with ONTD.
Check some emails like a boss.
Tab over to Facebook.
I finish watching an episode of Law & Order. There are days when I regret not going to law school.
Second time check.
I've found myself unexpectedly dog-sitting this past week. Mirabi's been occupied with a dog chew all morning.
Time to get clean.
Because I missed the required bed head shot, I present a disheveled, yet freshly showered, hair shot.
Lotion, deodorant, and things.
It's cooler than it was on Thursday, but the weather still requires shorts.
I've got the hunger. I haven't gone grocery shopping in a while, but I rustle up the ingredients to make an egg sandwich.
OM NOM NOM.
I catch up on today's episodes from #NukeRewatch2011.
Mirabi demands to go outside so we head over to Riverside Park to expel some of that energy.
We walk by Grant's tomb on the way home.
And Riverside Church.
These hop-on/hop-off tour buses pass my window about every half hour or so during the day. They are the bane of my existence.
Mirabi hangs out on my bed and people watches for a while.
I stop by the mailroom and visit my friend Schwartz. My New Testament evaluation is in my mailbox.
I use the tunnel to cross Claremont Avenue and head towards Auburn Theological Seminary, which is housed within Union Theological Seminary.
Through the academic hallway to the rotunda stairs.
I have a short debriefing with my boss about a project we're working on.
I take the back-way home, down the stairs to the Pit.
Make a pit-stop in the quad and take a look at my New Testament evaluation. I smoke out my frustrations.
Head back to McGiffs through the tunnel.
Ella texts me about dinner. We make plans to meet up in SoHo.
Walk down Claremont to 120th street.
Pump up the jams.
I arrive at 116th Street/Columbia University station stop in a few minutes.
There is no easy way for me to get down to that area of the city, so I consult my subway application.
I catch a 1 to 96th street, transfer to a 2 express to Times Square where I pick up a Q train to 14th Street/Union Square, and transfer to a R local train so I can get off at Prince Street.
Pump up more jams.
I arrive and we get seated rather quickly. I was prepared for an hour's wait.
Cuban food!
Drinks are an absolute must. Ella had a gin mule and I had a strawberry daiquiri.
We split an order of Mexican-styled corn.
They dose the cobs in chili powder. I couldn't feel my lips afterwards, but it was worth it.
Our food arrives. Ella ordered the fish tacos and I had chicken enchiladas, suizes style.
OM NOM NOM.
We decide to walk off some of our dinner.
We find the perfect shirt for a one, Mister Jake Silbermann.
We pop into a couple of stores.
We find a chambray shirt and joke that we should buy it for Jake's Derby Day fundraiser in the oft chance that he wears his chambray shirt. "So, I see that you also enjoy chambray." Great pick-up line, or greatest pick-up line?
We try on super bad ass hats at Banana Republic, and convince this woman at the store to buy one for herself.
Time check! The stores are closing up so we decide to part ways.
I put in my earbuds and head for home.
I decide on a different way home and pick up the B train at Broadway/Lafayette Street
Pump up the jams.
Pump up more jams.
I transfer to a 1 local train at 59th Street/Columbus Circle.
I get off at 116th Street/Columbia University.
Time check! Friday was an amazing subway day for me. Made it back uptown in less than a half an hour.
Walk down Claremont, past Riverside Church.
Home.
Mirabi is happy to see me. I take her out for a walk, and we play/fight for a little.
Afterwards I catch up on the Twitters.
And the elle-jays.
I Skype a bit with Abi. We talk a lot about Sherlock.
We make plans to Skype again next week. I start getting ready for bed. Brushing mah teefs.
I text Ella about where and when she wants to meet up for Jake's Derby Day fundraiser. We decide to be fashionably late.
One last time check.
Good night, DiTL!
