Where oh were to start?
Friday - they'd released my brother-in-law and sent him home on Wednesday only to be taken back to the hospital again on Friday. Ended up transferring him to another more capable hospital.
Saturday - woke up to a colder than normal house. Figured out that some time through the night we ran out of gas. **sigh** Remembered that they were open on Saturday's I called to schedule an emergency delivery and was prepared to pay a fee for this. Turns out that they're no longer open on Saturdays and after three calls to the answering service I was advised that because the original account was set up as "will call" that we were going to have to wait until Monday to talk to the office. WTF! Ok I get that them seeing us on will call makes it our responsibility and I was totally prepared to pay a fee for an emergency deliver but that's not the way they work any more. GREAT! Ok new plan. Of course at this point I'm late for a few things but can't leave until a plan is in place. Sister went out and purchased three space heaters - figured if we each had one in our bedrooms at night and one for down in the living room during the day we'd be fine with those and the fireplace. Got home Saturday night after being out all day only to find that the house has a strong propane smell. **bangs head on wall** Did some quick research - made sure the tank was closed off and the unit turned off then vented the house for about 30 minutes (guy from the dealer said this morning that the smell is normal). Got the house vented and then set the heaters up in the bedrooms and went to bed.
Couldn't get any worse, right? uh - yeah!
Sunday - Got up moved one heater to open area between the bedrooms turned the one in the living room on and put the third in the dining room. Why? I have friends coming over for a late lunch/early dinner! House is losing it's chill, I'm setting the table, Ka's nuking water to wash dishes (propane heats the water too) when suddenly we overload the circuit in the kitchen. Ok go down to the basement and flip the circuit back on. Goes off a second time. **sigh** This time everything seems to be on. WTF! I go down - nothing is off but yet there's no power to most of the kitchen, dining room and my fridge. ARGH! Finally give in and call when a second set of outlets go out on us. Now we have to sit and wait for a call back. During this time I make the decision to postpone the days meal with friends. **pouts** Everyone understands but still doesn't make me happy. Finally get the call back and it's suggested that we try flipping things off and on to see what's out on us before someone makes a Sunday house-call - fair enough. Suggestion works! Turns out that two breakers while they looked like they were on weren't - turning them off and on again rest them. Decided to heat the house via the fireplace and one space heater downstairs and one upstairs - that worked.
Now this morning traffic was for crap trying to get into the office as some of the water from the rain yesterday had frozen in some spots and just made driving more fun and added traffic to 422.
Ka stayed home and got the propane squared away as I had to be here to deliver the Santa's Brigade gifts this morning.
So now the tank is full and she's just waiting for the guy to return to do the leak check before turning everything on again.
The only positive things this weekend - spent Saturday with
penguingal to watch pretty boys and do Christmas and then on Sunday heard that the brother-in-law had his first food in 4 weeks (broth, grape juice and Italian water ice).
So yeah - was very glad for the weekend to be over!
