OOC: Characterization: Jack and ice skating

Feb 17, 2006 13:34

Jack can ice skate at an advanced level. He can do a few jumps and can do a mean step sequence; however, triple-rotation jumps are difficult for him and quads are beyond his reach. He also can't do spins. When dealing with others' perceptions of his skating, as well as his dancing, he tends to downplay his skills, often refraining from doing one of his more advanced tricks when in the company of another. This is because being with another person is distracting. He tends not to watch what he's doing, then, and falls or trips. He might be able to enter a "zone" while being watched, in which he skates as if he's alone, but as Jack is a very audience-oriented person it's hard for him not to notice unless the audience does not make their presence known. That being said, Jack is not nearly on the level of competative skating and would, perhaps, score last in any competition. He knows he's not the best, but he still enjoys to skate. It makes him cheerful.
