Delicious
I'm in the process of making a chocolate mousse cake. I've never made one before. I've never even made chocolate mousse.
Now, I'm not one to brag... well, not all the time anyway, unless it has something to do with a 60GB iPod or something... but I made the most delicious chocolate mousse I've ever tasted.... at least that my memory can recall.
It was good when it was just the chocolate, vanilla extract, salt and butter, and it was good after I mixed in all the egg yolks, but after I beat the egg whites to death and mixed them in, holy mary mother of jesus... It was silky, it was smooth, it was dark and rich and sweet and bitter and oh so sinfully delicious. The consistency changed again when I added the whipped heavy whipping cream, and it was considerably lighter and fluffier, but it's still awesome.
Seriously, though, at that point right after I whipped in the egg whites, it was like liquid satin in my mouth and I just wanted to roll around naked in it.
Oh, so I totally love Alasdair Roberts. I bought one of the CDs he was selling, opened it, and asked him to sign it. I'd never asked anyone for an autograph before, and from his response when I asked him, I'm not so sure anyone had ever asked him to autograph anything. In any case, I wish I'd had a sharpie, but instead he just had to use some regular pen, and he signed the inside of the CD insert, and I felt too silly and shy to ask him to sign it on the front where people could see it, so now I just have to deal with it.
I'm still excited, though, even if you won't be able to see it when I frame it.
Yes, I am.
He totally rocked, okay?
And I told him so.
To his face.
I said, "Dude, you totally rock."
And he smiled awkwardly.
And you know how I said I was listening to pirate rock in the subject line? Well, now I'm listening to Alasdair Roberts and pirate rock, which, contrary to what Ben says, are not the same thing.
So anyway, I'm glad I went to that. It was fun. And yes, Shake n Steak is good, and death, but not as good as it is when intoxicated, although still just as death.
I'm going to go cream the cake now. Well, mousse it, anyway. This fucker takes a lot of time to make. A lot of time. There's an absurd amount of mixing and whisking and beating and pouring and setting and cooling and cutting and cooking involved in this baking project. So far I'm five hours in.
Hopefully it'll be worth it.
