Our State Fair is a Great State Fair

So, it's state-fair time again. I'd hoped to have a lot of entries this year, and I kinda do. They're in some ways underwhelming, though. It'll be fun to enter, but I have no real expectations.

Category 4302-051: Crocheted Afghan Any Material: I am proud of this one, because it incorporates a lot of cool ideas and is the culmination of a great deal of work and actually came out well, but it's a funny shape and hard to display and probably a little too un-afghan-like to satisfy. Still worth a shot.

Category 4302-052: Crocheted Afghan Granny Pattern: Despite my best attempts at blocking, this one refuses to become rectangular. Part of the problem, perhaps, is my lack of a good blocking board. And part of it may be my inexperience with blocking. If I can turn this into something respectable after the fair, I'll send it to Jenny Quinn. 'Til then, I sure hope its innovation impresses, because the blocking problems are going to be held against it.

Category 4302-055: Crocheted Stole Shrug Wrap Poncho: It'll be vaguely respectable when I sew all the loose ends in, but, still, this is kind of not as cool in yarn as it was in my head. Also, really hard to display.

Category 4302-058: Crocheted Baby Afghan Any Material: I did this one pretty much solely because the fair has a 'baby blanket' category, but, hey, now I have a spare for when I next have a friend breed. It actually came out OK if uninspired. It might even do OK.

Category 4302-060: Any Article in Crochet Not Mentioned: This hat was a lot of annoyance, but the horizontal braid actually came out looknig good! It's not terribly practical, but I think it's kind of slick. Only thing I would do differently on it is that I'd make the crown a big trefoil knot. Maybe on the next iteration. (Fun fact: the yarn used for this hat is the leftovers from making Malkuth on the Tree-of-Life)

Category 4302-061: Crocheted Doily: This is a better presentation of the infinity-motif than the wrap is. It blocked reasonably well, and the improvizational lacework came out pretty well.
