another one of those days. the ones you wish you had more often.
got a call from paula around 10:30 and we ended up going to the farmers' market. found this amazing little stand where a lady was starting up her own business selling cupcakes and pastries. we talked to her for about 5 minutes about delicious things before i finally just had to buy something, and ohhh my god was it delicious. if you've had a pavlova you might be familiar with the blend of fruit, meringue shell and custard creme between the two. this concoction was similar, but made with just blueberries. the creme between the fruit and the shell was just heavenly though, and i had to sit down for a few minutes just to appreciate how good it was. literally, it was that good.
this place is called sweet sue's by the way, so if you're going to the troy farmer's market, keep an eye out. if this place gets a business downtown, i'm volunteering to work if i get paid in delicious things.
after pastries, i wandered around with paula past the soon-to-be dinosaur bbq, and found a hidden bookstore in the failed downtown mall. amazing hole in the wall type place, packed to the brim with books of all variety. decided i should expand my newfound book collection, so i picked up 20,000 leagues under the sea on a whim. maybe it'll inspire a few ideas for the short film initiative this semester?
around 2 we headed back, got eric and kristen, and went to "geppifest", a small concert/festival that, well, geppi was hosting. wasn't expecting to stay for a real long time, but we were there until 11 or so, and there was some fantastic music stuff. kristen's cousin joe was singing for a band called alta mira, and they were pretty fantastic as was railbird. something haunting about railbird, they've got this knack for standing out from most other music you'll hear just the way you'd stumble across a fleeting second of eye contact with a stranger you'll never see again.
back here now. gotta figure out how to get out of the house more. NEED TO DO ALL THESE THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE SEMESTER STARTS! seriously rich, get your act together, you're running out of time.
