Yesterday was fantastic.  Holly and I started the day off by going to Kroger in the morning for some last-minute grocery shopping for dinner.  Now skip to mid-afternoon, because that's the next time we really did anything.  A Night at the Museum was a cutesy kids' movie, but Holly and I both enjoyed it.  The only real message I was able to pull out of it was that whole "if at first you don't succeed..." thing, along with a couple old Ted Roosevelt quotes, but it was still just a fun movie to watch, and I think that was the point.  Also, Dick Van Dyke, Bill Cobbs, and Mickey Rooney kind of scared me.

In any case, we came home after that and got out the assorted vegetables and ranch dipping sauce while Holly prepared the most delicious stuffed mushrooms I've ever had.  We ate those while watching the first two episodes of Saturday Night Live (Holly received the entire first season from Kristen on Christmas).  Once all the mushrooms were gone and SNL was over, we put in MST3K's Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders, from the fifth season (a Christmas gift to me from Garrett) and Holly made some very tasty Caesar salads.  Once the salads were gone, Holly put together the main course: fresh-cut beef tenderloin, cooked medium-rare to rare, along with Brussels sprouts and homemade mashed potatoes.  At this point, I was on my third Honey Brown and Holly was on her second.  After the movie was over and dinner was gone, we tuned in to Channel 4 to watch the ball drop at midnight, at which point I popped open the champagne and Holly made raspberry Bellinis.

It was a great way to end 2006.  Here's to '07.
