Anthony Martone
So as some of you may know, one of my biggest heart breaks from 2009, was when I came home to check Twitter and discover the amazing Anthony Martone had been Kicked out and yes I say kicked out of VersaEmerge.
I was absolutely devastated when this happened. He was one of the sweetest band boys I had ever met.
When the 2009 OP Tour had been announced with Cobra Starship and VersaEmerge I was like "Woah I get to see Gabey Baby AND Anthony?! Score!!"
Then of course...I get the message that he had been kicked out of the band.
Over the course of the time that followed I grew very protective of Anthony. I just love him and respect him very much.
The reason Versa gave for Anthony being kicked out made me further pissed and I almost swore off VE all together. They claimed he was depressed and needed to work through his issues. It was absolute fucking bull shit. You don't kick someone out who is depressed because all it did was make things worse.
For the longest time I would read Anthony's myspace and get really upset. Just the day before I was supposed to be at the OP tour he posted something that made me so upset. To this day I don't know how I managed to not go off on Blake and Sierra at the show.
Anyways...
So my dearest Anthony hasn't been up to a lot lately. He would say a few things but the stuff fell through I guess. About a month or so back, however...he announced he was subbing for a band's drummer and that they were going on tour.
When I went to their myspace I clearly remember my heart skipping several beats. They had plans to come to Richmond. It made me so happy and I bounced around. I was finally going to get to see Anthony and give him the hug he so totally needed.
Last night I almost didn't make it to the show. My mom waited to the last minute to get her bath and get ready then she kept getting on the phone with people and then yelling at me like I did something wrong.
At last however we got in the car and headed off to Richmond. I missed "Sound We Sleep's" set though. It was just an acoustic show at Hot Topic.
I stood there and listened to the second band play but Anthony was no where in sight. Then a group of people converged on the Hot Topic and there he was. I just grinned and went and gave him a huge hug.
After that we spent a good 30-45 minutes talking about random shit. We ragged on Justin Bieber, lightly touched on Versa, Warped tour, street teaming, and oh yeah..he told me the shit he's working on. Seriously guys this stuff he's doing is going to be amazing. Versa wasn't what was meant for him and I know bigger and better things are in store for him. I'm glad I get to be a part of the ride.

I bought their album last night. They are all super sweet dudes. I think they were all pretty impressed I drove two hours to see Anthony so they let me have the album for $5.00! score.
