i don't usually do this

I've been a faithful MegaTokyo reader for years. I've never been bothered by Piro's rate of production (especially since I have no leg to stand on, heh) since the art and the story are beautiful and compelling (and funny, can't forget that. :D)

I bring this up because I visited the MT home page this morning and scrolled down to the rants, not really expecting to see any changes since yesterday. Except there was.

To make a long story short, Piro, a good man and a good father, has been working to support his wife and child with the webcomic since Serephim was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma. "Stunned" is too light a word for my reaction, as MegaTokyo has been a staple of my internet life since I was eleven years old. Now, nine years later, Piro and the MegaTokyo community is hit with this.

But as Piro says,

We are focusing on the positives: As far as we know know, it has been caught early. While incurable, Lymphoma is well researched and there are treatments that can put it into remission. The Lymphoma clinic at the University of Michigan Hospital is well respected. And lets not forget - Sarah is very tough.

Odd as it may sound, it’s actually good *knowing*. It’s always good to know your enemy, otherwise you are just wasting ammo. :) Nothing is worse than the limbo that comes with knowing something is wrong but not what it is. Knowing what is wrong means knowing what to do next. At least mostly what to do next.

See? He's much more eloquent and classy than I am. :)

I guess I'm posting this because this family needs all the well wishes and prayers they can get. Please, keep them in your thoughts. :)
