When Jack had disappeared for three months, Gwen was reluctant to sit at his desk while commanding Torchwood. It wasn’t due to the fact that he’d be back any minute, but that she knew she was an incurable snoop. Sure, it’d start out innocently enough, looking for a paperclip here or there. Eventually, she’d be looking through the whole thing, wondering what Jack had stashed away.
Gwen avoided the desk successfully for a month until Ianto started leaving her coffee in Jack’s office. So she started sitting there and started to snoop. The first drawer was dull, random office supplies except for the various condoms and flavored lube. The second drawer had fifty years of unfilled reports collecting dust.
She hit the jackpot with the third drawer: one trainer, velvet opera gloves, a teddy bear that was not for kids, a mini vibrator, melted candles, various porn DVDs and a small, battered notebook. Gwen flipped it open, thinking this was Jack’s private Kama Sutra.
She gasped as various pencil sketches greeted her. There was a man with a crew cut and big ears next to a blonde with pouty lips. A few pages later, she recognized Suzie, Tosh and Owen, followed by a page full of Iantos. And then Gwen stared at her own face. Not just one sketch but dozens of pages of her. The last page had her kissing Jack back to life after Abbadon. She closed the book, hugging it close to her and wondered.
