She clung to him, like a life raft, or a pillar in a storm. He watched her with almost military determination, eyes full of wonder and face full of pain. A simple push, a silent shattering of walls. He was careful, respected her too much. She, likewise. But in the end the pull was too strong. Barriers down, opportunities created, feelings stirred. They worked, together. They laughed and cried and fought and lied and they were perfect, in every way.
Adam was glad that out of everything else he’d started, he seemed to have done one good deed, for them.
