Title: 7 Deadly Sins: Envy
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Jalex
Summary: “Because she was laughing and talking and flirting with you, and I saw how much you liked it!”
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Author Notes: This is part 2 of a seven-part one shot series involving the 7 deadly sins. I don't know if I like this or not, it doesn't seem to flow very well haha. Also, I'm having problems thinking of storylines for Greed and Gluttony, anyone fancy helping me out? I'll love you forever c:

All Time Low are in the middle of soundcheck, well, they're supposed to be in the middle of soundcheck, but most of the guys are goofing off and not paying attention. Alex can see Flyzik at the side of the stage, clenching his jaw and grinding his teeth. Yeah, he's definitely going to chew them out about it later, Alex decides.

He's supposed to be checking that his mic and guitar are working properly and sound decent, but Alex can't focus on anything but what is happening to his right.

Alex watches his dark-haired best friend out of the corner of his eye, frowning as he sees him joking around with one of the merch girls from a supporting band. Jack's head is thrown back as he laughs loudly, and the girl is giggling along with him. Was this the person Jack said he liked?

Envy fills Alex, and he doesn't even know why. Why should he be jealous of that girl? He's known Jack for way longer than she has, he has a deeper relationship with Jack than she does... so why?

Because you want him, a voice in his head says, and he glares up at his forehead, not even caring at how stupid he probably looks.

He takes another glance; Jack's moved closer to her, a playful glint in his eye. Alex knows that look - Jack's flirting with her! His grip on the guitars fretboard tightens, but his fingers lose grip, causing a weird buzzing sound to echo through the venue.

Jack glances over, shooting his best friend a 'what the fuck?' look because Alex hardly ever messes up a chord, and he most definitely never makes that awful sound. Alex just glares back, and focuses back on his guitar.

“Stupid Jack,” Alex grumbles inwardly, “Stupid Jack and his stupid way of making me act like an idiot. Fuck him.”

“What, bro?” He hears from Jack's side, and he looks over again to see the lanky guitarist staring at him in confusion.

“Huh?”

“You just said 'fuck him'... Lex I didn't know you wanted me that way.” Jack giggles, winking at him the way he always does when they're on stage, and then Alex realises he must have lifted his head when he was talking to himself, causing his voice to project through the mic. Well, fuck.

Alex laughs shortly, “No dude, you just wish I wanted you that way.”

“That's not what you said the other night.” Jack laughs, making a suggestive face at Alex as he remembers that he did in fact say that at the party. But he'll just let Jack think he was talking shit when drunk, he tends to do that a lot anyway.

Alex doesn't reply to Jack's taunt, instead deciding to test out the mic in front of him. He sings a few lines from random songs, choosing whichever songs first come to mind. He's still annoyed that Jack was talking to that girl, so the words come out powerful and angry.

Soon enough soundcheck is over, and the guys are handing their instruments to the crew and making their way backstage. Alex can faintly hear someone calling his name behind me, but he's still angry so he ignores them.

“Alex! Dude I've been calling your name for five minutes, what's up?” Jack says as he finally catches up with him.

“I don't want to talk to you Jack, leave me alone.” Alex grumbles as he pushes open the dressing room door. No one else is in there luckily, and Alex sighs in happiness as he flops onto the couch because he really wants to be alone right now.

But apparently that isn't happening, because Jack follows him straight through into the room and shuts the door behind them.

“What the fuck is up with you?” He asks, putting his hands on his hips and raising an eyebrow, and Alex would have found his pose funny had he not been in such a bad mood.

“Nothing, now fuck off and leave me alone!” Alex yells, throwing a cushion childishly at Jack and throwing himself face-down on the couch.

It's quiet for a moment, before Alex feels a weight on his lower back as Jack straddles him and shakes him quickly.

“Ja-ack!” Alex whines, “Leave me alone, damn it!”

“Nuh-uh bro, not until you tell me what's up!”

Alex decides that lying to Jack isn't going to do any good; he always got the truth out of Alex one way or another.

“I wumph jealuph!” He says, face pressed into the couch.

Jack stops shaking him, “Uh.. what?”

Alex lifts his head and looks over his shoulder to look at the younger man, “I said... I was jealous.”

Jack raises an eyebrow skeptically, before clambering off Alex to let him sit up. Alex turns and sits indian-style on the couch, and Jack mirrors him so they're facing each other and their knees are touching. They used to do this all the time when they were younger, and the familiarity makes Alex smile slightly.

“Jealous of who?” Jack asks, cocking his head to the side in a way that Alex finds far too adorable.

“Of her!” Alex cries, crossing his arms and huffing immaturely.

Jack laughs, “Of Poppy? Why?”

“Because she was laughing and talking and flirting with you, and I saw how much you liked it!”

This revelation only makes Jack laugh more, “Wow you are jealous!”
“Not that jealous...” Alex blushes and looks down, all anger and frustration gone.

Jack leans forward, placing his hand on Alex's knees and peers up at him, “You totally are.”

Alex groans, and pushes Jack's face away, laughing slightly.

“Alex is jea-lous!” Jack sings, poking Alex's cheek teasingly, only for Alex to swat his hand away.

“You're a dick!” Alex cries, letting out an annoyed groan.

“Don't be mad Lexy,” Jack says, leaning in again, “I think it's cute.”

Alex's head snaps up with a 'Wha-?', but Jack is already off the couch and shutting the door behind him, leaving Alex to wonder what he meant by that.
