Films. I want Films.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1

I usually don't enjoy the Harry Potter films, save the first two. But I really loved the mood of this movie. It was serious, dark, and more adult than any of the other installments. That's the way it should be since the main characters are in their teens. They deal with more mature emotions, difficult situations, and as maturing teenagers they can express that so much more. I could deal with a little less naked, that was really uncomfortable. As I've said before, the movies do nothing to kill the whispering that Harry and Hermione should have ended up together. Speaking of kill, I feel like within the first 20 minutes 3 people are dead, and then it continues steadily every half an hour. I can't help but look at Daniel Radcliffe as a man and not a boy. He SO doesn't suit the age anymore, but I still like how he portrayed Harry in this film. Actually, all three main actors did an amazing job at conveying their feelings of isolation and hopelessness. Have to be honest, I'm sort of in love with Bill Weasly. What a BABE. I also got a little giddy when Snape came onto the screen. There were definitely a few very awkward, kind of terrible scenes that had the audience laughing when it shouldn't have been. We were lucky to get a small-ish cinema at the AMC and have a minimal and mature audience seeing the film with us.

The Rules of Attraction

I apparently missed this wonderful 90's film about sex, drugs, and creepiness. May I never see James Van Der Beak on shrooms doing Kate Bosworth EVER again. I initially watched this movie because of yummy Ian Somerhalder. I ended up hating his character along with all the other main ones too, which made sense since that was the director's goal. The characters were meant to be complicated, people who made mistakes, and people who made bad decisions for the wrong reasons. It was sad to see Ian strike out with so many boys. I feel he wouldn't have the same problem in real life. The fantasy he has between himself and James is hilarious though. LOVED IT. I thought this movie had a lot of drug use... but then I watched Requiem for a Dream, and oh god was this ever tame compared to that.

Requiem for a Dream

I only subscribed to NetFlix a few days ago, but I can already see myself digging through it to watch every movie I've said I haven't seen. I remember seeing this one picture of Jared Leto and Jennifer Connolly snuggling on a bed, and I knew I needed to see that film. So I finally watched Requiem for a Dream, and was wowed because it was NOTHING like I expected. All the previous instances in my life where I've wanted to try hard drugs was completely erased and wiped clean by this film. Why the hell do they even bother showing the don't do drugs videos at schools? Just play this 2 hour film for them and they will NEVER touch hardcore drugs. I think seeing a needle go near my skin in the future is going to make me hurl. The first half of the film goes into the characters relations, and introduces you to their addictions. The second half of the movie had me yelling out loud in horror several times. You see each person spiral in their own way, and they get so lost they can't reach each other. It was such a sad film, so very dark and emotional. When the arm came off, I nearly lost it. Jesus, it was horrifying. And what's even more saddening is that Jared Leto is such a better actor than he is a singer. Come back to your calling, you stupid fuck. You're an amazing actor! So yeah, don't watch this film if you're feeling depressed and upset like I was feeling. It makes it so much worse. I had to put on something fluffy afterward to ward off my already negative feelings piling up due to this motivation.

Merlin

I was convinced by my friend Caelin to watch this Merlin show on the BBC. It's pretty terrible, but funny enough that it's ok. It's cute, and it's nice to watch British TV whenever I can. Anthony Steward Head is a wonderful King, he's so monstrous ^_^ It is historically inaccurate, but pretty boys count for a lot. The CGI is also awful, but it's TV. It's really no worse than Torchwood's CGI mishaps. Although I have become painfully aware that I never read the tales of King Arthur, Lancelot and Merlin. I should really get on that.
