Yes, the essay is important
Done reading applications! First day that I'm not in the office since the beginning of January... and yes, that includes the weekends. I actually finished two days early since reading doesn't officially end until 8am Tuesday. It feels weird to be done so early - but I'm not complaining. And now a quick bit of advice for anyone who might be writing an essay that'll be judged as a reflection of you and your writing abilities:
