Favorite K-dramas, Part 2

Apr 20, 2008 19:33

This is the continuation of my Top Ten Favorite Korean Dramas. I’ve already enumerated and gushed about my first five (http://jacganda.livejournal.com/1276.html#cutid1). And now for my second five…

6. DAE JANG GEUM. Another historical drama that I love! I can’t count the times I’ve shed tears while watching this. I particularly liked watching how food was being prepared and how it was served during that period. I admit, this series sparked my interest in Korean cuisine, which eventually made me try Korean food and I’ve been addicted to such dishes ever since. I also love the lessons that the teachers such as Lady Han and Madame Jung imparted to Jang Geum. Since it was being broadcasted in a local channel, the Filipino translated dialogues were very apt, beautiful and heart-wrenching. Of course, I like the scenes between Jang Geum and Jung Ho and between Jang Geum and the King.

7. GOONG. I fell in love with Chae-Gyung and Shin. Goodness, their scenes together are so electrifying; I was breathless most of the time! I especially liked how Shin slowly changed from an “aloof and lonely” prince into a loving and sensitive one. Furthermore, how Chae-Gyung showed her innocence of a young teenager yet very elegant as the Crown Princess was also splendid. The costumes - from the traditional and modern- were really great and the music too, is really beguiling.

8. SWEET 18. This series has a fast-paced and smooth-flowing storyline with the concept of a pre-arranged marriage between an older man (28) and a very young girl (18). At the earlier part of the series, constant disagreements between the couple ensued while minor characters (such as his ex-girlfriend and his older sister) interfered to break the marriage. Starring former real-life sweethearts Han Ji Hye and Lee Dong Gun, this series has its funny moments which are particularly hilarious and feel-good moments that never failed to make me smile. Han Ji Hye’s portrayal of Jung Sook is refreshing and her cheerfulness and cockiness is so infectious while Lee Dong Gun’s portrayal of Hyuk Joon is so convincing and so endearing. The pair’s chemistry is so awesome. I sure got a kick when I’ve watched the ending. (Hmmm, I feel that I’m missing this series, I have to get my copy from a friend who borrowed it sometime ago. I want to watch this again).

 9. COFFEE PRINCE. I love a series that can make me laugh to relieve me of my stress while at the same time, provide me with feel-good moments. CP definitely did that. The gender-bender or crossing-dressing part of the series is what I liked most.  I love Yoon Eun Hye and her acting style! She’s definitely great in the romantic-comedy genre. Moreover, I like the way Gong Yu potrayed his Hyan Kyul - so lovable and adorable. I liked the way he loved Eun Chan; It makes me wish that kind of guy exists! So much for wishful thinking!

10. FULL HOUSE. Another romantic-comedy series which brought endless laughter to our household. Rain and Song Hye Kyo’s chemistry is too strong to go unnoticed. I love their sweet scenes and their bickering moments. I also the house, very spacious and modern! Of course, who would forget the “3 Bears Dance?”

There goes my top 10 of Korean dramas. I certainly hope that I didn't bore you and I certainly didn't anticipate that I'll write longer than my usual entries. It's just that I can't seem to stop whenever K-dramas are being discussed. =)
