My kind of town II

I went back out to Chicago last weekend. I wanted to hang out with my god-daughter because she's just putting the finishing touches on her divorce from the guy she married last time I was out there. I've also been wanting to see them dye the Chicago River green for St. Patrick's Day, and meet some other people I've become friends with on the internet.

cmerun12 was kind enough to pick me up at the airport, and give me a ride down to where Sam lives. She's even more charming in person than I'd expected. I'm grateful she didn't throw me out of the car because I couldn't figure out where I was going.

I stayed in downtown the following night to make it easier to meet up with some other friends at the parade the next day. Mr. Prince is an ex-$cientologist that used to work for L.Ron Hubbard, or as Jesse likes to call him "dead elron". He, and another friend from FB were full of insight about the cult.

Cindy informed me that the Ghengis Khan exhibit that I'd seen in San Jose was at the Field Museum, and I met up with her and her husband the day after the parade to go see it with them. This place is fascinating, and I'm sure we could've spent all day there. It was even more enjoyable with smart friends who could pick out the errors in the museum's information cards, as well as find the most interesting stuff inside.

I couldn't have asked for more gracious hosts as they helped me get back to Sam's.

We took the kids to the Brookfield Zoo the next day. I have mixed feelings about zoos, but thought the wolves were spectacular.

I really needed to see my god-daughter, Samantha, because she seemed distressed the last couple of times I talked to her. Her new boyfriend is funny, a southern California transplant, and will help her get through this part of her life. I'm sure of this.

My only regret about the trip is that I didn't contact chilimuffin, or gollumgollum. I'd make excuses, but would rather just promise that Madison is on the list for the next time I'm out there. And it won't take three+ years to return.
