Summary: Fog surrounded Jaejoong from all angles. How did he get lost? All he wanted was to go to the bathroom and since everyone was asleep he didn’t hear any human sounds. He should’ve stayed closer to the campsite. One wrong turn had him falling down a steep slope he hadn’t seen because the moon was covered by clouds. Picking himself up, he suddenly noticed a tall figure a few feet away.
Shim Changmin was born a werewolf. Full moons are a nightmare, since transforming isn’t a walk in the park, but at least he doesn’t have to worry about the safety of his mate, but that’s only because he doesn’t have one yet. He pities, yet is secretly envious, of werewolves that have found their other halves. He doesn’t want to be tied down yet though. All that changes when he meets a human in the middle of the woods …

Chapter 7
----
Jaejoong hung up the phone. He called Junsu to hang out, but the latter had a date with Yoochun today so he rejected the offer. He wanted to know more about Junsu’s weird behavior yesterday and hoped that Junsu’s problem could distract him. He’d been on edge since he left the café yesterday. He felt like something had changed, but couldn’t identify what. His dream had progressed a lot last night. He didn’t know what propelled the snail’s pace to speed up, but speed up it did. He understood more of what Junsu felt in the dream they talked about and it puzzled him why he experienced something Junsu apparently experienced as well. Could it have been that Junsu’s retelling of his dream that prompted his dream to go in the same direction?
He hoped that last night’s dream was a fluke because he wouldn’t be able to last long with that dream reoccurring. He didn’t even understand how Junsu could function if the dreams he had were anywhere near as intense as what his had been last night. He felt himself flush with just the memory of it. The odd thing was, just as Junsu had explained yesterday, he couldn’t see the face at all. He was starting to get scared. What was going on? It’s too much of a coincidence for Junsu and him to have the dreams be this similar and for them to be experiencing the same things. There was more that had to be going on than just coincidence. The problem was that with the information he had right now he didn’t even know where to begin to look for answers, didn’t know who to ask for help.
“Aish!” He exclaimed to himself and ruffled his hair as he grabbed his keys from the counter on his way to the door. He needed to get out of there. He made sure he locked the door and went to the elevator. Once the doors closed he pressed the first floor button, he lived in the fourth floor. During the elevator ride he debated whether to go somewhere far, meaning using his car, or whether to just walk around.
He decided to walk around and see what could distract him. He lived in a nice neighborhood. His apartment complex was highly sought after when the wealthy wanted a cozy place to live that wasn’t too ostentatious yet was modestly elegant. He looked around the shop windows trying to kill time and see anything that caught his eye. ‘Way to spend a Sunday,’ he thought as he wandered around. He was already four blocks away from his apartment complex when he noticed a bookstore he hadn’t seen before. ‘Hmm… interesting looking little bookstore. I wonder why I hadn’t seen it before,’ he wondered, even if he knew it was probably because he always used his car to go to campus or anywhere for that matter. The only exercise he ever got came from a gym and the occasional hiking trips they took in his Field Biology class. He decided to get a closer look, never hurt to have more books.
As he entered a little bell sounded at the door and he turned to see the golden worn bell hooked to the door. ‘I thought most places had automatic alerts instead of old fashion bells,’ he smiled at the simplicity of it and proceeded inside the store.
‘Wow, this place looks really cool. I didn’t know a place like this existed or I’d have come ages ago. Need to restock my library anyway. Oh look! They sell books that look centuries old along the more modern ones!’ He quickly made his way to the fantasy section. He was such a geek when it came to that genre. He had all the Harry Potter books available from J. K. Rowling as well as all the Immortal After Dark series from Kresley Cole. Both worlds were interesting in their own right and he immersed himself in them once he started reading. This was the perfect opportunity to find something new to read. He felt in the mood for something more towards factual. He looked to his right and saw that it contained modern books. ‘Oh-my-GOD! I’ve been waiting for this one! Finally I’ll see Malkom’s story. Oh, so he’ll get with Carrow. How did I know he’d end up with a witch? Can’t wait to see how their story plays out,’ he thought to himself with a huge smile across his face at having found the latest Immortal After Dark series book.
He picked two more books out of that section, he really couldn’t stop himself, and then looked to his left to the more older looking books. There was this old looking book that really looked like it came out of the Harry Potter movie; dust, wrinkled pages, thick hard cover, with pop out letters. ‘Woah, just the looks of it alone would make me buy it. It’d remind me of the wizarding world all the time. Junsu would freak!’ He grabbed it and read the title: Facts and Myths of Fantastical Creatures and Their Mates. ‘Cool, got my factual book. Wow, it’s really heavy too. Would take me ages to read, but I have the time.’ He looked inside the cover and saw that it had no copyright date. ‘Hmm… can a book even be published without a copyright date?’
“May I help you Sir.” The shop owner said in a light voice as he stood behind Jaejoong.
“AH!” Jaejoong yelped and dropped his books to the ground, hands automatically covering his heart as if trying to prevent it from popping out, and turned around.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you,” the shop owner said, trying to hide the smile that threaten to come out.
“No, I’m sorry. Guess I was entertained with the selection you have here… Heechul,” Jaejoong said sheepishly after looking at the tag in the owner’s shirt.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying my selection. Are you done for today? Would you like me to ring those up for you?” Heechul asked while smiling pleasantly at Jaejoong.
“Huh, oh yeah, I’m done. Thanks,” Jaejoong said, a light blush of embarrassment on his face as he was caught staring. Heechul didn’t seem like he would be the owner; bright red hair styled like a rocker along with pierced ears, shaped eyebrows, dark clothing. He’d pictured that the owner would be A LOT older than the apparent age of 25. This fact was derived by the fact that the bookstore didn’t look too modernized. Come on, they still had bells to alert that a customer stepped in even when the location/neighborhood had the latest technology available for the other shops.
Jaejoong followed Heechul up to the counter and was glad to note that at least the latest technology for paying was available. He hadn’t brought any cash with him, so his credit card was the only way that he could pay.
“That’d be a total of $1,215,” Heechul said with a smile on his face.
Jaejoong’s jaw dropped. He gave Heechul his card and saw him ring it up. After that he placed the books into a bag and gave him his receipt along with his credit card.
“Have a good day,” Heechul told Jaejoong cheerfully and watched as his customer left in a daze.
Once Jaejoong had left Heechul’s smile dropped minimally. ‘Hmm… he seems different. He must be the mate of someone, since he has that aura of awaiting a link. At least that book will help him a lot, whichever species he’ll belong to,’ Heechul thought as he went to the storage room. He recited an incantation and waved his hand. A book materialized out of thin air, an exact replica of the book Jaejoong had bought. He picked it up, humming happily, and walked to the spot the other had originally been to place it there. He placed a spell on it, so that only those who needed it could see its real content, and went back to cleaning the action section of the small store.
Jaejoong snapped out of his daze halfway back to his apartment complex. He took a look at the receipt and his jaw once again dropped. That book alone had cost $1,192! ‘Good thing I have that kind of money! I’d have left it there if I couldn’t afford it. Must be a collector’s item or something. Better be good if the price was that high. Awe, who am I kidding, I’d have gotten it just for its looks alone,’ he thought with a silly grin on his face. He couldn’t believe he owned a book like that. Never had he come across one or he’d have become a collector of them. ‘First things first. I need to read Kresley Cole first, then the other short books, and finally the big one. Can’t wait to start!’
He sped up his speed, trying to reach the comfort of his apartment fast, and was completely distracted from the dream he had that morning.

Changmin paced his cabin’s living room impatiently. He can’t believe that Yunho refused to give him details of his mate. All he knew was that it was a guy and that’s it. ‘Why won’t he tell me! It’s not like I know him or anything. What if he’s ugly and that’s why Yunho won’t tell me? I wouldn’t care either way though, a mate is a mate. Aish,’ he was beyond frustrated. He flashed back to what Yunho had told him…
*Flashback*
Yunho laughed at his face expression and said, “Sorry Changmin, if I don’t know who my mate is you can’t know yours either.”
*End Flashback*
‘Stupid Yunho. Only because he doesn’t know doesn’t mean I shouldn’t!’ He ruffled his hair in frustration and stopped pacing.
“Okay, I’ll go for a run. That’ll calm me down.”
He changed his jeans for some sweats, put on an open sleeve white shirt, put on sneakers and grabbed a bottle of water. He stepped out of his cabin and inhaled deeply. He loved the fresh air here.
He started a light jog within his territory and started to think again. ‘Why would Yunho keep my mates’ features from me. Was it because of that one time…’ he trailed off and shook his head. He needed to stop thinking about this topic. He was just going in circles and it was a waste of time. He’ll just have to wait until his mate finds him, just like every other werewolf. But maybe he could help the process by going more often to that city. Helping his mate find him isn’t cheating is it? ‘But I hate going out. But if it’s the only way…’
He increased his sped a little since he managed to get warmed up already, even if he didn’t need the warm up he liked doing it. It helped him think. Trees were starting to flash by at a faster sped, it was a good thing he lived alone or else the sight of him zooming by would scare any human.
He started to think about the rogue werewolf again. After the mate talk Yunho and him discussed the progress on the werewolf report. It seemed that at least a little more information was gotten from the alpha’s searching for him in their regions. Turned out it was Kim Hyunjoong. He’d come down from a mountainous territory with his mate. Friendly fellow, but not much was known besides that. He didn’t interact with other werewolves and was lonely until his mate found him. That’s all they were able to find out. They still didn’t know what happened to his mate or why he turned rogue, but speculation does point to his mate being dead.
He couldn’t image what losing his mate would feel like and hopes he never has to experience that. He’d barely found his and already he felt a connection to him.
The rogue had been steadily making his way towards their region. A few more months of that steady pace and he’d arrive. Everyone was desperate to catch him. He’d already cause speculation of a demon on the loose with the damage he caused, not only in his wolf form but in his human form as well. He’d been burning buildings down at random and causing car accidents. Not only was the wolf communities after him, but human police as well. His description is still sketchy though, which has helped him get as far as he has. Yunho and him are worried that he won’t be caught on time. What would happen if he makes his way to their region and the rogue’s act of violence affects their mate? What if they haven’t claimed their mates fully, making them vulnerable, and they’re caught in a burning building or a car accident? Just the thought brought chills down his spine and caused him to stop running.
He sat down, panting lightly with a thin sheen of sweat surrounding his whole body. He uncapped the water he carried with him and drank deeply. He’d travelled a fair distance away from his cabin, but that wasn’t a problem. He could be back there in 10 minutes if he used his full speed. He lied down and observed the clear sky. He’d start going out starting tomorrow, today he’d just relax.
A/N: Thanks again for reading. ^_^
Oh, if you want to read an awesome Hosu see
my favorite way to bleed by Kandadze. It's supernatural as well and was written in 2009. Just read it and loved it. ^_^
