It's Monday and I've got the Madagascar theme stuck in my head: "I've got to move it, move it."
After a laid back weekend, Mondays are certainly a challange.
We are at the stage in our remodeling where we have only finishing details to complete. A stage that I know from experience will take longer than the big jobs. But I can't complain since the room is functional and looks sooooo much better than it did before. :)
Since the weekend was kind of mellow, I spent some time online readin the reactions to the SG-1 and Atlantis episodes--both of which I enjoyed. I watch Atlantis pretty casually so I am rarely disappointed by an episode. I wish I could watch SG-1 that way but I am attached to the characters after 9 years of viewing.
Overall I enjoyed Ripple Effect very much, but there was one thing that really bugged me......(spoilers below)
Why are the writers so focused on Carter's love life???? She is a great character who has accomplished so much and all they can show that she is interested in is who she ended up with. Meanwhile, scenes (posted by JM on GW)that would have added so much depth to the story are cut in favor of the shippy stuff with Carter. Why not show her reaction to Janet showing up alive and well--a friend that she mourned deeply, no, we have to suggest a little romance between Martouf and Sam. Doesn't this brilliant, compassionate woman have more of a purpose than to be the love object in every universe. Passing references would be fine, but her love life seems to be the main focus of her character. It seems like such a bad message to send.
End Spoilers
So now I really do have to move it, move it. :)
