That could be a legitimate excuse or a make-believe one.

On this date in history:

1912 - Carl Laemmle incorporated Universal Pictures. Laemmle was a pioneer in the movie business.

1949 - Celebrities Helen Keller, Dorothy Parker, Danny Kaye, Fredric March, John Garfield, Paul Muni and Edward G. Robinson were named in an FBI report as Communist Party members. Not all of the allegations were proved, however.

And it’s the 70th birthday of Nancy Sinatra. She’s most famous for this great song:

The only thing on TV tonight is a new episode of Deadliest Warrior. Somali Pirates vs the Medellin Cartel (a Columbian drug cartel). Not exactly a pairing with anyone to root for. Oh well. It’ll be fun, anyway.

Reading: Now I’m reading To Davy Jones Below. Another Daisy Dalrymple book. And, no, the Davy Jones in the title has nothing to do with The Monkees.
