Hey guys, It's jac on library comp. :D

I wrote a story during AP world today - we had a sub. :3
It's about 2 female dragon lovers. No NSFW stuff, just a lot of descriptive
language. I've been working on doing these "snapshot" kinds of stories,
mainly because I need to work on my imagery and such. I hope you like it!

It was time. Mathara wasn't sure how it was going to go, but she was as
ready as she would ever be. Looking over at Sha'aera, she shivered. Her
wings flapped nervously as she thought about her future. Today was the day
that they would affirm their feelings for one another in front of the rest
of the commune. She shook her head to clear her mind, and went back to
preening herself. Her emerald green scales shimmered in the sun like a
gossamer curtain of malachite. She would be prepared for her day.

Today was the day that the female dragons each announced their mates. As
usual, any other dragons that were interested would come to the mating
lattice, where they would watch and celebrate for the newly mated females.
The commune was a wonderful place to live, from the eyes of those there. It
was nothing more than a formality at this point, as loves tended to bloom
often in the commune. It was a big day for all those involved, though.

Of course, many weren't. This was simply one mating day among others - All
genders and loves had their own day. The day that the females used, today,
was during the warm season, to symbolize the warm love that they shared. The
males, herms, and genderless ones each celebrated their loves at different
times.

Mathara was amazingly beautiful. Her deep green scales were polished to a
flawless shine, and her pale teal eyes glistened in the sun. She stretched
and spread her wings, pleased with the olive light that shone through her
thin wingskin. She twitched her tail, both in anticipation and anxiety.
Taking a deep breath and steadying herself, she walked out to the mating
lattice to prepare for the occasion.

She gasped as she stepped out to the platform. There was her love, Sha'aera.
Her pale, cream-colored scales cast motes of light onto the dark wood
beneath her. She turned her eyes to gaze lovingly at Mathara, the fiery ruby
brightness sending a wave of warmth through Mathara. The sinuous strands of
muscle under her lithe skin drove Mathara mad with impatience, and she had
to stifle a happy purr. Sha'aera smiled knowingly at her love, just as
excited. Soon, they would be together. All they had to do was wait.

An old silver dragon strode out to the center of the lattice, smiling at all
the females ready to declare their loves. He took a deep breath, and turned
to the small crowd of dragons that had gathered to celebrate the matings. He
bellowed out with a surprisingly melodious voice:
"Love is something that is hard to find, harder to lose, and hardest to
forget. We dragons of the Ka'nar commune gather here today to celebrate,
announce, and embrace that love. The females behind me have found love, and
have taken it upon themselves to announce and affirm that feeling. Come,
sing the melody of love and passion with me."

A haunting, beautiful melody filled the air. It's varying tempo brought
memories of time with Sha'aera to Mathara's mind. Moved by the melody, other
dragons began to join in and add their tune to the song. A light blue
dragon, the color of the noon sky, caught Mathara's eye as he starting to
sing along, adding a slow, deep counterpoint to the wordless song. Mathara
joined in, as did Sha'aera. The voices of the dragons all around weaved into
an anarchic melody that still communicated the same feelings.

As the song ended, the silver dragon announced which females had arrived
that day. One by one, the females stepped up, spoke the name of their lover,
and went to be with them. When Mathara's name was called, she gracefully
bounded up, and motioned for Sha'aera to come to. Once both were up there,
Mathara turned to her pale lover and said to the crowd,
"I, Mathara, am in love with Sha'aera. I will devote my heart to her, as I
hope she will return to me."

Sha'aera did a similar announcement, then the two leapt into an open spot in
the crowd to watch as the rest of their number affirmed their loves to the
group. Mathara put her head up against Sha'aera's neck and nuzzled her
gently, then smiled gently as her counterpart did the same. Such was the
love of the two dragons that day, and such as it would be.

It's actually loosely based on a dream I had, where I saw two female dragons
nuzzling each other lovingly after a similar ceremony.

(And yes, that blue dragon is me. XD)
