A new life

I've been here for how long now? Time doesn't work the same here at Dancing Rabbit.
I'm just starting to get settled.
I sent off the last paperwork that I had relating to back east yesterday.
I still have some furniture and such sitting in a house other than the one I'm living in.
Amy and I are amusingly approaching the longest time we'll have been together at a stretch.
I haven't been here that long.

We're also planning our commitment ceremony, which is fun.
I've started writing free articles online to build up a set of writing samples so I can start freelancing. Here's one. There's also been discussion around my writing the weekly column about DR for the local paper once I know DR a little better.
I've had three computer-repair jobs this week. I've made a month's rent from the first two, and haven't decided how much to charge for the third one yet, because unlike the first two, the third one is less formal. I handled the first two through a middle-man with specific billing.
I've canned a little less than sixty jars of fruits and vegetables for my food coop for the winter, and there's enough tomatoes downstairs to allow me to can another 25 easily.
I've been here a long time.

In a lot of ways, I feel like I'm finally free. My dilemmas here are small and manageable. What were "Problems" are now "challenges". They're easily surmountable. The people here are awesome, and the love of my life is never further away than a couple of hundred feet.
In a few small ways, I feel that I'm not far enough from my old life. But I also realize that to really be far enough away, I'd have to go to Mars.

The bottom line?
I'm happy.
