Message in a Guitar
So Guitar Hero has done it again...I realized I liked the Police and Sting. I just bought Sting's new CD where he sings fragments from an Elizabethian songwriter... Anyway, Tool and I went to the first part of the LACIS film festival last night. After a month of heavy publicity for this event, it was gratifying to see that there was a fairly big crowd there. I just hope that I can grab one of the posters that I made before they got tossed by the various establishments I asked to hang them up. Publicity is hard work. Anyway, "The Secret Life of Words" was pretty good. It's about a deaf woman who is forced to go on vacation and ends up taking care of Tim Robbins on an oil rig off Britian. It's about trauma and lonliness. Some really poignant parts. It had a great secondary cast (a chef who makes food from a different part of the world every day and listens to music from there just to escape the monotony). I also heart Tim Robbins. Interestingly enough, this film was considered the best film in Spain 2006 despite it being in English. Corporations and whatnot. And a goose named Lisa... :) It's nice to be surprised by a film.
