Ivy is there, leaning against the fence rail, a far-away look on her face, pieces of straw stuck here and there on her old t-shirt and worn jeans, smudges of muck and dust streaking her bare arms and one cheek, hair pulled back in a wispy ponytail.
She's so pretty.
Shasta hesitates, watching her for a moment. Maybe another time would be good....
Then Ivy moves to tuck a limp blond lock behind an ear and the spell is broken, memory of another time giving him renewed inspiration.
Fingers gripping the jiggly blob carefully, he cocks back and throws.
Splat!
