Here is an excerpt from the "ham-fisted" book with which I am currently passing the time:

"All over the planet, COSY--Comparison and Verification of Synthetic Seismogram [how does that spell COSY?]--monitors were springing into action, sounding the alarm that the worst-case scenario for global seismic-wave propagation was actually taking place. That real data was matching theoretical data.
That planet Earth was up shit creek. And no amount of paddling was going to help."

"At the National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, OK, they were watching Tornado Alley as their boards lit up like slot machines hitting the jackpot. But they weren't spitting silver dollars, rather magnitude 4 and 5 tornadoes..."
