Less Potluck

Gentle Readers,

I made brownies for yesterday, but ended up going to one less potluck than expected. While, in general, I enjoy potlucks, I think that perhaps they make less sense for groups over 100. This is especially the case when you allow people to buy their way in for $7 and this money is spent on dessert and deli trays.

Really, it's been a smashing couple of days. Aikido was very good; intense and focused. This, in turn, lead to a surprisingly productive work day even though it didn't feel like it at the time. We are making really good progress on meeting our milestones which means a positive financial incentive for me. I think we'll have to do a tally on Monday to see where we are with things.

My brownies seemed to be well received as far as I could tell. There were some missing and considering that they were right next to the "Two Bite" brownies, I guess that's something.

Anyway, thanks in part to a scheduling mishap (a theme for the weekend), the evening potluck was canceled so since we had partial plans, Reyl and Pumpkin and Lydia and I decided to hang out at my place and have a mini potluck which turned out rather well. We also watched Nightmare Before Christmas to help get us into the proper season spirit. Since it was -20something last night and we had no car, we decided to turn it into an impromptu sleep over which was really quite delightful. Lydia and the Pumpkin played very well together.

She was up late last night, but got a nap on the way home from dropping off R & P (who apparently fell asleep watching a movie). I took the long way home, paying down some karmic debt using Merrivale through the middle of the christmas shoppers. Then I took a quick tour through Brittania to try and round it off to an even hour. I saw one gentleman working on a little rink in his front yard.

It was good that Lydia had someone to play with because Number 1, her other play date had to cancel today because of different scheduling mishap. She took it in good stride, but was probably secretely miffed because I didn't tell her until after she had cleaned up her morning toys. This was not intentional. I didn't find out until she had started her cleanup.

At some point I realized that my day tomorrow was not going to go as planned because I had forgotten the Office Children's Christmas Party and was double booked. However, the other booking seems keen to cancel thanks to the winter storm that is on it's way. Granted, if there is too much snow for one, perhaps there is too much snow for the other. I'll have to make sure to call and check to see if it's canceled too.

Dinner was the world's easiest rose sauce which I invented on Wednesday to great accolade.

1 part Tomato Sauce
2 parts 2% Yogurt (is it good or bad that for us, this is low fat?)
2 parts shredded mozzserella

Pour over hot pasta and heat on low until the cheese is melted.

Storytime and Lydia beacon.
