woo! back from thanksgiving and now it's time to work!

actually much of the work i'm going to be doing is completely unrelated to school. I just finished doing some preliminary work on balin's bicycle and i'm really excited to do more. i'm fixing it up for her while she's in india and wont need to use it. (thus i can take it pretty much all the way apart and then put it back together again) I'm just really pumped to be doing mechanical work again. It's something that is very rewarding to me. to be able to just use your own two hands and know how a machine works and be able to take apart all the little pieces and make them function how you want them to. even more so it's the feeling of being able to fix my own problems. when my bike breaks (which in some ways it has already, mostly just a need for a couple new parts though) i'll be able to fix it. I will be self sufficient. this is also a prelude to my eventual goal of building my own bike. someday (relatively soon) i would like to either take a really crappy beat up old road bike and recondition it and make it into something worthwhile or i would like to take just a bunch of parts and build/customize my own brand new bike starting from the frame on up.

I'm also going to start knitting more. Partly because i'm going to be making gifts for family that way, and i intend to make some of my own clothes (kind of, hats, mittens, scarf etc.) that way. I'm also very excited about doing this as well. somewhat for the same reasons that i like fixing things, the whole self sufficientcey. but also becasue there is just something about creating something useful out of a handful of pieces that is very rewarding to me.

anyway, i suppose that's all for now, i'm sure i'll be updating later too with other things to say.
