I moved back to Halifax as I had a job at the citadel as a Visitor service Rep (a parks canada guide) the position had changed from last year and I was not quite enjoying it as much as last year, so I tried to be a Military interpreter to see if I would have more fun. Did not happen. Therefore I quit and started looking for a job as a bicycle mechanic, I had been on the hunt for an apprentice position for a few weeks and was registered to attend the Barnett's Bicycle Institute this winter. Sportwheels hired me. The guys are awesome, the job is fun, the pay not so much. And benefits are out of the order. Work there as of now, but yesterday, after a few meetings and lots of email transfering with the co-owners and managers of Cyclesmith I received their formal offer.
Full time, considerable raise from current employment, which will be raised according to the 3month evaluation, full medical/dental, generous employee discounts on in store products, product orders AND associated stores (the trail shop, running store, etc).
And the best of it all, my plane ticket as well as housing fees while attending the Barnett's institute in Colorado are covered by the company. A whole $2500 less to be spend on my behalf. In exchange, I sign a one year contract.
Oh, and I moved to a new fancy place. With skylights, and plants, and a backyard, and a BBQ. So come over.
I'm rockin' it.
P-eace.
