2011 - Looking Back
- started the year well enough with 9pm fireworks and Casperplace, and with Beccy
- picked up my first K-5. It came with a 18-55WR kit lens, which I sold off not long after
- got two more YN560 speedlights, which were the updated versions. Haven't gotten any more since then, so it's 5x YN560 and 2x AF-540FGZ flashes that I have, for a total of 7
- checked out Sydney Festival's Festival First Night
- hung out with Beccy
- got roped into shooting a wedding. Didn't like it. Subsequently shot some bridal photos for them as well. Didn't like it either.
- gave my PC a boost from 4GB to 8GB RAM. Haven't done much to my PC since then
- did a sunrise shoot out at Little Bay. Then Mahon Pool. And Turimetta. And Avalon too
- played with the S95 when out. Been neglecting the camera all year though
- got bored, shot some CNY decorations around the house
- went to the city on a fucking hot day and shot some cosplay flash mob
- got a 2nd K-5
- sometime around here, Beccy dumped me; made me feel emo for a few months. Haven't seen her or talked to her since
- Anniecasper headed off to Japan, but beforehand, had some dinner thing
- went to a few of Exposure's pizza nights, like this one and this one
- modded a Nerf recon CS-6
- macroed a praying mantis
- did Little Manly with Exposure
- did some theatre production photography
- ate the short lived KFC Double
- shot some architectural/real estate type stuff, starting with a few swimming pools, then an apartment
- worked at a warehouse for two days. Didn't go back
- bit the bullet and bought the Sigma 85/1.4 and went out shooting with it
- went to the local CX interview, thought I did terribly, but ended up being invited over to HK for the stage 2 and 3 interviews. Bombed out of stage 2. GG.
- finally sold my K10D, should've done so earlier
- went Vivid Festival for another year and took photos
- attended PMA, didn't see much there
- went to HK. Had a good time, except for not passing the CX interviews. Journal entries here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here
- got a job offer while I was in HK. Accepted it.
- bought an Asus U36J notebook, still using it
- sold all my MiniDisc stuff. Bye bye MD. Sold my Samsung R50 notebook as well
- went out to Watsons Bay and South Head with Exposure; met this cute girl, kinda like her, but I had to move to Melbourne not long after...
- shot some urbex at the Dunlop Factory
- Festival of the Winds with Exposure
- moved down to Melbourne to start a new job
- shot some birds in the area in the week before work started
- did some touristy type stuff here, like the St Kilda Penguins, around the CBD, the Shot Tower, just around town, and at night, and some urbex, which isn't so touristy
- replaced my damaged HTC Desire with a Nexus S
- visited a Boeing 732 on a work related visit
- bought a car, the '05 Mazda 3 Maxx Sport
- went for a little drive to do a shoot over at Clifton Springs
- saw the 787 Dreamliner
