About a month ago, my
Sony MDR-EX57SL earphones arrived, and my initial impression was that "while the lows aren't as boomy as the EP-630s, and the highs are not as crisp as the EP-630s, overall, I quite like the sound, and they sort of have the "Sony sound" to them." Well, one month on, and my initial impression still holds true, and to be honest, the sound quality just doesn't match up to the Creative EP-630 earphones. I do miss the strong bass of the EP630s, and in comparison MDR-EX57SLs sound a bit too tight in the lows, and also the highs are not as crisp and clear; in fact, sometimes, I think the word muddled is one way to describe the highs of the MDR-EX57SLs. One area where the Sonys excel over the Creatives is the build quality; the cabling is less flimsy, while the earphone units have a tight, solid feel to them. Just a shame about the sound quality.
