Cgyrask and I are overall having a little christmas this year. Having a conservative budget for gifts, we're primarily going to focus on the various kids in the family.
Saying that, I found, fought a war and won a gift for my mother.
This is the story:
Sometime in the late 70s maybe early 80s my mother bought a kilban cat mug. It had a little poem on it and one of his cats struming a guitar. over the years she had a huge attachment to this mug. Everytime she would take it out to use it, she'd smile and read the poem. She said it reminded her of a cat she had that was very very special to us. Not to long ago my moms husband went to use her mug and broke it. She called me to tell me about it and it sounded like to me she was very sad to have lost it but trying not to be "mad" at her husband for breaking it.
I remembered the artists name so I began searching. I could find lots of Kilban items on various google and ebay searches but not this mug. Then yesterday I did find it on ebay! The moment I found it I decided that it was going to be won by me. There were several other bidders for the item. I'd put in my bid then another would beat me out, this continued on through the day back and forth and all the anxiety. My obsession was great, I joked with a friend that I would cash in my RSPs it I had to, but that mug would be mine. At the end of the day I did win the mug. For $42 US + shipping.
It'll be worth every dollor when I see her face on Christmas morning.
