But, when he does he choose between the two loves of his life, Jaejoong or Guen Young, who happened to have married Jaejoong's father in a desperate attempt to wash away her debts. Making the biggest mistake of his life, he betrayed Jaejoong, and in one night his dreams had shattered. Meeting Jaejoong five years later-still not knowing the truth of the whole story, Yunho is determined to make it up.
A dim light showed before his eyes amidst the darkness. His lone form looked back and forth for a familiar face, but at this place, there was nothing but darkness. Darkness that shrouded over his form, his mind, and his nonexistent heart beat.
“Is he still alive?” he could hear something calling, but his conscious had slipped too far to even respond as blood pooled from his major injuries. He could hear sirens, he could hear people whispering, he could hear news anchors, but he could speak, he couldn’t open his eyes, he could only listen.
Junsu…
-
The bowl dropped his hands, the contents within pooling around his feet. Slowly he raised his hand to his heart, a hard thumping pain. He cringed as it felt terrible…
-
Junsu…
-
He dropped to the floor, gasping for air, hand clutching his heart hoping to ease the pain.
-
“His pulse is dropping, hurry get him to the hospital, contact all family members.”
-
Only their deep breathing could be heard in the room, both their bodies shaking at the extreme contact of their warmth and the emotions over flowing from their hearts. But a soft ring had finally eased Yunho to let go of Jaejoong’s form to take the call.
“Hello?” Jaejoong speculated as Yunho turned away from him to take the call.
“Is he okay?!” Jaejoong became alarmed as Yunho’s voice hitched and became laced with worry.
“I’ll be right there.” And as Yunho turned around, he almost bumped into Jaejoong who displayed curiosity in the matter. “Stay here, I need to go to the hospital.” As Yunho rushed past Jaejoong the man held onto his arm, “Did something happen?” Jaejoong questioned.
“Yoochun got into a car accident.”
-
“Hello?” Junsu picked up the phone, his fingers fumbling with the water bottle cap as he unscrewed it to take a sip from the bottle.
“Yes, is this Kim Junsu shi?” a female voice came from the other end.
“…” Junsu didn’t respond as he swopped down and grabbed the remote. He turned the television on in minutes, flipping through the channel, only half heartily paying attention to the women on the phone.
“Do you by chance know Mr. Park Yoochun? He is in critical condition right now-“Junsu phone slipped from his hands, his eyes transfixed on the television screen. His eyes transfixed Yoochun’s limp, blood covered body that was gently being pulled out of his crushed Audi.
-
The room was a mess. Yunho had left him in the house alone; the butler had taken Moobin on Yunho’s order. “These are all your clothes.” Gently picking up the loose cloths thrown on the bed, Jaejoong placed them back into the closet filled with only the latest fashionable items.
“These are all your prodoucts.” Picking up each cream, each powder, each bottle, Jaejoong placed them back on the empty dresser.
After picking up the scattered pieces of jewelry Jaejoong set the box down on the dresser. Slowly he sat himself down looking at his reflection in the mirror. He was surrounded by items that defined who Kim Jaejoong was. He almost wanted to laugh skeptically at the ironic situation. He was the sole heir of Kim Corporation, a business worth billions. He worn, used, and ate the best. Everything was top quality. But now? He was Youngwoung Jaejoong. All of these things that Kim Jaejoong had used, if sold, would have paid for everything in his household, pay for Kibum’s tuition, pay for the trip Jaejoong wanted take to Paris, and pay for a new faucet in their apartment bathroom.
His fingers lightly traced at the items placed before him, feeling unfamiliar with the products he once adored. Feeling unfamiliar with the old him.
Raising his hands, he gently pulled out the first drawer. All his favorite necklaces lay out in their separate casing, glowed in the bright light. Each and every single gem sparkled as he ran his fingers gently through the strands of chain.
Pushing the drawer close, he pulled the second one open. Watches from every brand, from plain to diamond studied faces each stood in a black silk casing, looking and shining at their best and ready to be chosen to top off a handsome outfit.
Opening the third drawer, his multi color silk ties revealed themselves, all imported from France. He pulled the last shelf out, almost not being able to remember what was down there. His belts, all lined up neatly against one another. Some rolled up and tucked to the sides while some were rolled out to display the buckles.
A sad smile decorated his face as he slowly leaned down to pick up one of the belts, when a belt in the corner had caught his eyes. A belt that did not belong in the drawer of new, polished, and distinguished belts. From the design of fabric, Jaejoong could tell it was a Gucci belt. Slowly unraveling the belt, Jaejoong felt a sense of familiarly with the belt. It was too familiar. As the buckle revealed itself, the belt slipped from his hand, the heavy Gucchi syble buckle clanked against the floor boards.
He was pushed up against the wall, his belt was yanked off his body before being measly thrown to the ground with a loud clank.
A sudden vibration had brought Jaejoong back to reality. He dug his hands into his pockets and fished out his cell phone. “Hello?” his voice was shakier than he had expected. He couldn’t even take his eyes off of the belt.
“Did you like my gifts?” a husky, unfamiliar voice spoke.
“…” his mouth felt dry, no matter how much he wanted respond he couldn’t.
“I know you’re secret~” a sinister melodious tone came through, “and I’m going to crush Jung Yunho with it.” The tone turned mad, violent almost.
“Who are you?” Jaejoong asked, taking cautious steps towards the window. He lifted the silver curtains to take a peek outside, hoping to see someone suspicious.
A small chuckle was what he received, “I’m not outside…” a shiver ran down Jaejoong’s spine, “I’m…inside.” The man whispered.
Jaejoong turned around when he heard footsteps descending down the steps followed by a loud bang. Hurriedly Jaejoong chased, he ran down the steps as fast as he could. The front door was left opened; he stopped in the front yard, looking around him, trying to look for the figure behind the phone call.
“Too slow.” The man wisped. “No worries young master...I won’t harm you…” Jaejoong breathed in deeply.
“I reveal all of your and his secrets…” the line disconnected soon after.
Looking at the frantic figure in the middle of the yard, the man smiled to himself. “I want you to despise him…I want him to know what he had done to you…so he will never ever have the face or thought of seeing you again.” Slowly stepping away from the bush he had hidden behind , he slowly walked into the darkness, disappearing in the night.
-
Yunho held the phone away from his ears as the busy tone played through his cell. He tried calling Jaejoong once more but his calls were all directed into voice mail. He sighed before turning around to look at Guen Young, and Changmin, both looking down at the floor. Sadness, worry, and fear evident in their eyes. Yunho walked over to Changmin, lightly patting the boy’s shoulder to reassure him that Yoochun would be just fine.
However between the two of them, Yunho was the more shaken one. Having arrived as soon as Yoochun’s body was carted out of the ambulance.
He held onto his brother’s bloody hands, rushing along side the bed as the nurses hurriedly try to push him into the emergency room.
“Hy-ung.” Blood erupted from Yoochun’s mouth as he gripped tighter onto Yunho’s hand. “Shh, don’t talk. Everything will be okay.” Yunho tried to assured him. Yoochun lightly shook his head, his eyes almost rolling to the back of his head.
“Hy-ung…” tears filled his eyes in fear as Yunho witnessed more blood spilling from Yoochun’s body as the man tried to talk.
“Hurry, blood is filling his lungs!” Yunho heard the nurses cry.
Yoochun grabbed hold of Yunho’s hand, holding up bloody finger he slowly traced a latter onto Yunho’s palm.
I-N-W-H-A-N
“Sir, you have to let go now!” Yunho looked up away from Yoochun to see that they were almost already outside the emergency room.
Yunho looked backed down at Yoochun when he felt the man’s weak grip on his wrist.
Slow agonizing breaths could no longer supply his body with its needed oxygen. He didn’t have much longer. “Jun-s-su”
The grip on Yunho’s wrist loosened, the bloody slowly smeared as the hand fell downwards upon his suit. Tears leaked from his eyes as he watched the back of the nurses rushing Yoochun into the room. He watched agonizingly as the room’s operation light turned on with a ding.
Yunho’s attention was captured when Changmin, who was sitting next to him, stood up abruptly. Yunho’s gaze followed Changmin’s, stareing at the sudden appearance of their lawyer.
“What is this?” Guen Young asked, surprised that the lawyer was even here.
“This is Mr. Park’s wishes. If anything were ever to happen to him, he wants to make sure that his will is carried out to the exact measures.”
“There’s no need for you’re to be here, Yoochun will be fine.” Changmin barked when he sensed the seriousness of the lawyers tone as if something bad would happen to his brother.
“I’m just following orders.” The lawyer explained. Opening his brief case, the man pulled out a file encased in a manila folder. “Here is a copy of Mr. Park’s will. Is there a Mr. Kim Junsu here?” the lawyer asked.
The three Jung’s sent each other a puzzling look. “I’m sorry but Mr. Junsu is a key part in Mr. Park’s will. It would be best if he were to be notified-“
“Jaejoong…” all three of their gazes were drawn towards the figure behind the lawyer as the words slipped from Changmin’s lips, walking ever so slowly towards them. And standing next to him, hands linked, was Junsu.
“Junsu was on Yoochun’s immediate contact list. He was contacted as soon as Yoochun was hospitalized…” Jaejoong spoke, answering the question that Guen Young and Yunho were thinking in their minds.
His hands tightened its hold on Junsu’s hand, knowing that more than anyone here; Junsu was the most devastated by the news. Junsu refuses to acknowledge the reality in the situation. He hid like a little child behind his form, as if the world would judge him if he were to be seen.
“Who are you!” he didn’t know where his feet were taking him, he just kept on running. The fear inside him growing deeper and darker. Who was the man? How did he know he know so much?
Without even knowing he had crossed into the middle of the road just as a car approached. The loud screech of the wheels was all Jaejoong heard before he turned around and realized that he was in the middle of the road, and never the less, almost ran over.
“Hyung?” Jaejoong heard a familiar voice call as the mysterious car owner climbed out of the car.
“Junsu?” Jaejoong whispered.
-
The five of them were ushered into a private room in the hospital. The lawyer sat at the head of the table, pulling out all the files in his brief case. Pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, his eyes zoomed in on Junsu before pushing a stack of papers in front of the man. “Mr. Kim-“
“Youngwoung” Jaejoong interjected.
“Regardless of your surname, Mr. Junsu, you, according to Mr. Park’s will, are the sole benefactor of all of his assets; the house, the real estate, the cars, and his stocks.”
Silence loomed all over the room, Junsu who was looking down at his hands turned his head to look at the lawyer. Shocked and surprised that he would be the benefactor in Yoochun’s will.
The lawyer sighed, “I know this is hard for you to accept right now, but, please sign at the bottom next to Mr. Park’s signature.”
“I don’t want any of these.” Junsu replied, pushing the stack of paper back towards the lawyer. “I don’t even know why I was on his list.” Jaejoong turned to look at his brother; the very color had been sucked out of Junsu. The man seemingly couldn’t even stand if a wind blew at him lightly.
“You are on the list because Mr. Park sees you as the most important person in his life. Please, this is his last wish.” The lawyer pleaded, as he was pushing the papers back to Junsu. Yoochun had warned him before to be very persistent with Junsu.
However, Jaejoong took the papers from the lawyer. And as if he was angry, Jaejoong stood up, throwing the papers onto the floor, “Did you not hear my brother? He doesn’t want any of this. He doesn’t want anything to do with Park Yoochun.”
Taking Junsu’s hand into his, Jaejoong headed for the door until the lawyer spoke once more. “There’s something else that Mr. Park wants to give to Mr. Junsu.” The lawyer spoke quickly, also being warned beforehand about Jaejoong’s protectiveness of his brother. Hand still in Jaejoong’s, Junsu turned his head around towards the lawyer.
Reaching into his brief case the lawyer pulled out a crinkled envelope along with a, velvet, square box. Junsu swallowed the lump in his throat, his nose slowly stinging and his eyes blurring as he took the jewelry case from the lawyer’s hands. Gently propping the lid open, a diamond ring sat in the middle of the cushion slit of the box.
“We’re talking our leave.” Jaejoong muttered as he tugged Junsu along. As soon as they took the first turn at the end of the hallway, Jaejoong turned around and enclosed Junsu into a hug. “Cry…if you want to now.” Almost immediately Junsu’s arms encircled themselves around Jaejoong, burying his head into Jaejoong’s neck.
The tears that he hid were soon overflowing. No words could describe how he felt. The pain was worse than what it was five years ago. It almost felt as if he was losing Yoochun once more, but this time to death.
“Jaejoong? Junsu?” the two brothers turned their heads toward the voice that had called out to them. Standing there was Leeteuk. “Jaejoong, I need to speak to you about something.” Leeteuk muttered his face liking grim as if something serious had happened. Jaejoong turned his face back to Junsu. He didn’t want to leave Junsu alone at the minute, but what Leeteuk had wanted to talk about seemed so urgent.
“Go ahead hyung.” Junsu breathed inwards, “I’ll be right outside the operation room.” Jaejoong’s hands slowly came up and wiped the tears from Junsu’s cheeks. “I’ll be right back.”
Junsu watched as his brother followed Leeteuk down the corridor and soon enough disappeared when they turned the corner of the hallway. Slowly making his way back to the operation room, letter and box in hand. When he arrived, he sat down on one of the chairs outside the room, knowing that this would be one of the longest nights of his life. Looking down at the envelope in his hand, he became curious. Gently breaking the seal, he retrieved the letter from within.
To my beautiful Junsu…
-
Leeteuk pressed a file into Jaejoong’s hands, “These were found at the scene inside Park Yoochun’s car.”
Nochantley opening the file, Jaejoong still didn’t seem to understand the urgency in Leeteuks tone. Jaejoong almost winced at the sight of the bloody papers. Jaejoong returned his gaze to Leeteuk, wondering why this was so important. But as soon as he flipped the page his mind went blank ashe starred into Inwhan’s death certificate.
-
When was the first time I met you? At Jaejoong and Yunho’s wedding? No…no. We met before that. The first time I saw you was when you came to the orphanage to save Jaejoong from his kidnap. Then we met at their wedding, when we introduced ourselves to each other. That day you didn’t have eyes for anyone but Jaejoong, even as we danced, even as I was right in front of you, your eyes were only for Jaejoong. I thought you were a prick, the way you handled everything so business like.
But you, the prick, slowly grew on me. From the first time our hands met, I wished that I could hold you forever in my arms. Do you remember that time? I don’t either. Was it when we worked till really late?
A smile slowly decorated his face as the tears slowly trekked downwards.
Then almighty God from above granted my wish. But then everything else happened that drifted us apart. I couldn’t tell you that Yunho hyung was only married Jaejoong hyung for revenge, if I had, I would have betrayed Yunho, the older brother that always took care of me. I feared losing you every single day I woke up, no matter how close we were physically and mentally; I knew that once the secret was out, you would hate me. And that day did come…when I held you that day, I knew already that it was impossible for you to forgive me. The look in your eyes…looked as if you would kill me right there.
My heart had died along with yours that night…
There was never one night that I ever had a sense a peace. We had both suffered…Junsu. Because of our hyungs, we suffered.
Revenge? I could and would have easily given it up for you…but we were both bound by your loyalty, love, care, and kindness to our hyungs.
Doubt my words, but never doubt my love for you.
You have changed so much, during the five years. And I can’t help but feel as if I had caused that change in you. There are so much things I wish I could change…but if you are reading this letter now…it only means that something bad has happened.
Junsu…take everything I have to offer. I wasn’t able to shower you in the luxuries of life when I was alive…I want to make sure that you are well off after I am gone…
That is my last wish Junsu…please…at least allow me to take care of you financially.
The tears slowly rolled down, and before he knew it, a sob broke out. Clasping a hand over his mouth, Junsu held the letter closer to himself.
-
The documents shook in his hand from the vibrations of his body. “This…how…did this happen?” Air itself had seemed to stop, it had felt so hard to breathe.
“I don’t know…but…it is a fact that Yoochun knows about the existence of your child…” Leeteuk was hesitant to continue, seeing as Jaejoong stumbled backward, clashing into the operation sink.
“Could…Jung Yunho might know…?”
“Impossible…” Jaejoong whispered, almost hearing that mysterious mans voice inside his head. I’ll reveal all your secrets.”
Looking into Leeteuks worried eyes, Jaejoong slowly composed himself. Closing the files, “Yunho once asked me about Inwhan’s picture…if he had seen these documents, he should have known…he wouldn’t have asked me. Knowing Yunho, if he knew about this he would have already said something about…”
“I have to get back to Junsu…” Jaejoong mumbled, but as he was about to leave, he turned back towards Leeteuk once more. “How is Park Yoochun looking?”
Jaejoong watched as his friend smiled knowingly, “You should know just as well as I do. The car accident wouldn’t kill him. I saw his crushed car-calculating in the car’s momentum, speed, and his weight, the least he will suffer is a small concussion-nothing major. Hoping for him to lose his memories?”
Jaejoong smiled heartily, he finally understood why Leeteuk was a prodigy in his field. Even from just looking at the scene, Leeteuk could determine the damage done to the human being and guess perfectly what he was thinking in his mind.
-
“It’s impossible for him to know…” Slowly sighing, Jaejoong closed the file in his hands. “I’ll reveal all your secrets.” The man’s word popped up in Jaejoong’s head once more.
“Just who are you? The pictures, the belt, Inwhan’s sonogram…Where you the one who gave Yoochun these files? Are these files the reason why Yoochun got into an accident?”
Just as Jaejoong turned the corner towards the operation room, he stopped looking at the scene before him. The almightily Jung Yunho on his knees before Junsu.
“Please…” Jaejoong couldn’t hear very well from where he was standing. “Please…don’t blame Yoochun for my actions.” Yunho looked like he was on the verge of tears. Eyes already bloodshot and the tip of his nose bright red from the irritation of tissues. Junsu didn’t look much better either; Jaejoong could already tell that Junsu already had a sob session of his own.
“Yoochun loves you-“a sob broke from Yunho’s lips, “the last person he wanted to see was you. Even when he was on death’s door step, you were the last person he wanted to see.” And as Yunho finished his sentence, he quickly bowed all the way down to the floor, forehead touching the floor.
“Junsu…it was me who wronged Jaejoong, not Yoochun…I am on my knees begging you…stay by Yoochun’s side…” Yunho took Junsu’s hand into his compelling Junsu to look him in the eyes.
“I know that you still care for him, or else you wouldn’t be here with Jaejoong.” When Junsu didn’t even budge, Yunho felt almost defeated.
“You don’t know how hard it was for me to decide between Guen Young and Jaejoong that night…You don’t know how hard it was for me to give up Jaejoong like that…But none of that was harder than seeing how Yoochun and Changmin suffered because of me. Yoochun completely change when you left…”
Slowly picking up the disregarded velvet box next to Junsu, Yunho slowly opened it. “Five years ago…if it weren’t for me…Yoochun was already planning to give this to you.” Yunho watch as Junsu slowly tilt his head to look at the box in his hand.
“He was so scared of giving it to you because he couldn’t face lying to you. He couldn’t face putting you in between all the chaos.”
Pulling the ring out of the box, Yunho slowly held it up to Junsu’s eye level. “After all these years and this death scare….are you willing to let this chance slip once more? Let me bare the sin that I deserve, release my brother from the treacherous label for he has done nothing wrong…he has done nothing other than place his loyalty in me…”
“Hy-hyung.” And as if a miracle, the softly spoken words came from Junsu’s lips as he reached for the ring. Yunho smiled at the fruit his efforts finally bore. Junsu has just called him hyung. 1/3...1/3 forgiveness?
But out of nowhere, a pair of hands quickly coiled around Yunho’s collar, and within seconds, Jaejoong’s face with a few centimeters away from his ex husbands. “What kind of future will Yoochun have? Even if he survives this, he will be nothing but a vegetable or even worse mentally unstable! Don’t throw away my brother’s future for yours!” Before Yunho could even react, Jaejoong’s fist collided into his jaw.
“Jung Yunho, you are absolutely right, this has nothing to do with them. Junsu should throw away his future for a husband-“Jaejoong raised his fists, ready to strike once more.
“Hyung stop!” Jaejoong was almost astonished when his brother stood in front of Yunho. “Hyung…” Jaejoong took deep breathe, trying to clam himself down as he slowly lowered his fists.
“This is my choice.” Jaejoong watch as Junsu slipped on the band. “Even if Yoochun’s crippled, even if he’s mentally ill in the future…I will stay by his side.”
-
“I will stay by his side.” The words repeated over and over again in Jaejoong’s head as he slowly slouched onto the floor. His head buried within his arms.
“You’re pretty clever.” Jaejoong didn’t need to raise his head to know who it was. “Is this a way to keep Yoochun silent when he wakes up?” Jaejoong only lifted his head when he felt Leeteuks presence next to him.
“No need to answer. I already know. You’re killing two birds with one stone. Out there when you said all of those things, you were only trying to make Junsu realize just how important Yoochun was to him. Of course, this all plays in your favor either way…you can ask for Yoochun’s silence if Junsu is by his side.”
Jaejoong turned his head to look at his friend in the eyes. “What Yunho said was right. This is between me and him. I had no right to pull Junsu or Kibum’s future down with me.”
-
Picking up the pen, Junsu scribbled his signature down onto the paper before pushing it back towards the lawyer. As the lawyer walked away, Junsu slowly turned his gaze back towards the ring on his finger.
Inwhan, uncles sorry. Is there any way you can forgive me?
-
Gently pushing the room open, Jaejoong stepped inside the empty operation room. Walking around the room for a second he looked for the main light switch, the room immediately lit up as he flipped the switch. Looking around the room he was in a daze. The room where his precious child was taken out of him.
Slowly climbing onto the operation table, he reclined himself into the table. Putting his hand behind his back he slowly closed his eyes. Tonight was already way to long. He was already way too tired from everything. It was horrifying to think that someone out in the world knows about his secret. It was scary to think that his past was slowly being pried open…and all he could do was try to hide the patches before anyone else notices.
His phone vibrated in his pockets. He was hesitant about answering but he soon did when the caller or texter called once more.
Annoyed he slipped his hands into his pockets, grabbing his phone out. It was another unidentified number. Quickly he rejected the call. His phone lit up a couple minutes later, it was a text.
Can you forgive him for sleeping with your mother? Jaejoong sat up. A second later a new text came in.
Can you forgive him for sleeping and having a child with Guen Young?
Can you forgive him for stealing everything from you?
Can you forgive him for indirectly causing your rape?
Can you forgive him for killing your child for hers?
Angrily Jaejoong threw his phone onto the floor, the casing flying off into the corners of the room. The phone taking too much trauma from the fall, slowly shut off.
-
A soft sigh escaped his lips as he saw the sleeping figure on top of the operation bed. Open the door wider; he quietly stepped in, closing the door behind him gently. As he walked towards the sleeping Jaejoong, something beneath his foot had caught his attention. Leaning down he picked up Jaejoong’s disposed phone before tucking it into his pockets.
Sliding his hands under the sleeping figure, Yunho slowly picked the man up. Yoochun’s operation had been successful. Everyone else had already gone home, except for Junsu who was insistent upon staying with Yoochun until the man wakes up.
Yunho held Jaejoong’s body close to his all the way through the drive back to their house. He had usher the butler to quietly shut the door behind himself when he left as he walked up the steps of their house with Jaejoong in his hands. Gently kicking the master bed room door open, Yunho quickly settled Jaejoong onto the bed.
“How was the operation sir?” the butler taking care of Moobin whispered. Yunho sighed tiredly before replying that that operation had gone well. “Take Moobin into the guest room for tonight. Take care of him, make sure he doesn’t wake up Jaejoong.” Yunho instructed as he loosened his tie. The butler bowed obediently before pushing the sleeping child in his crib out of the room.
Yunho gently closed the door after the butler before looking back at Jaejoong. He gently rubbed his temples, a migraine slowly creeping up. Why was all of this happening now? How could Yoochun have missed such a large truck in front of him!
Tossing his jacket blazer onto the end of bed, Yunho slowly undressed himself from his formal attire. Collapsing onto the sofa in the room, Yunho reached for his phone. The weird text that he had received at the hospital was still on the screen. What is the name of your second son? This is the answer to hangman.
His eyes diverted to his palm, remembering the letters that Yoochun was imprinting onto his palm, the letters that spelled, Inwhan.
What was Yoochun trying to tell me? What is this man trying to get at? The name of my second son? Jung Inwhan…
How is Inwhan related to this sonogram?
