Last weekend - two quick games in Oakland (before breaking down on the interstate...)

Today: Clayton Club - warm-up for the one-day tournament next Sunday

Game 1 - Mike T. W 560-232

I admit that I do play phonies, both intentional and unintentional, but Mike will challenge anything! Then he tries EVOE*. My most boneheaded move of the day was playing RACH(ET)ED (which was challenged) instead of the more common RAtCH(ET)ED for a fourth bingo and a 600 point + game.  Mike saw a total of 36 tiles including the 3 on his rack at the end of the game.

Mine: SPAVINS 98 (challenged), TRIGONA(L) 80 (challenged), ENTAILS 69,
His: none
Homeless: RUTTING

Game 2 - Bruce B. W 493 - 278

Bruce is afraid to challenge me these days ...and I take adavantage of it. I challenged off his attempt at FUSEABLE*. Bruce saw a total of 37 tiles, including 2 left on his rack.

Mine: SOOTHEN* 72, BrOGUES 78 (hooked to SOOTHEN), TENsING 73
His: none
Homeless: JETtING/JEsTING

Game 3 -
bbstenniz  L 251-410

The Sponge is back in town on spring break. This game was a mess from the begining. I tried AUROR* to open instead of OURARI or URARI which would have worked just fine. AUROR* came off the board, but Conrad laid down GALA for the AUROR(A) hook. The only bingo in the game went down in the 8th, followed by my attempt with INDUREs* which also promptly went back on my rack. (The S hook was the only bingo line on the board.) The blank was still on my rack at the end of the game..

Mine: none
His: oLIVINE 66, FLUTY 52
Homeless: INsURED (and all it's cousins), POTIoNS (and all it's cousins)

Game 4 - Joe Guitar Miller L 313-452

All of my bingos just sat on my rack ...

His HISTING 87, TUCKERS 78
Mine: none
Homeless: BLARNEY, RETIARY, LEARNED
Missed: VERD(I)TER (attempted REDIVERT*)

Game 5 - Bill R. W 395 - 266

Lots of midscoring plays, UNTIES 33, (T)OXINE 46, ZEI(N) 33, GLEY 32, DE(E)P 32 ...

Mine: rOSA(R)IES 58 (!)
His: none
Homeless: GLEAMED
Missed: SOVIETS (opening rack), pHOENIX (found the TOXINE play)

Game 6 - Merry W 547 - 315

I'm sitting and looking at FILMED + E on my rack after playing UNRIGGED in the 10th, then Merry plays ROILY down from A8 ...

Mine: TONIEST 66, RELEASE 80, DENIALS 63, UNRIGgE(D) 62, (R)EFILMED 95, bonus play (R)AX 53
Hers: none, H(A)Z(E)Rs for 81 (good board vision to find that one) and QUI(D) for 42,
Missed: SEVENTH (this would have hooked in front of TONIEST), GREENIE

Game 7 - Stewart W 424 - 346 (my only game within 100 points all day)

His: jA(D)EITEs 61, SNAGGER 79
Mine: LUNIEST 72, (T)HUMB 48, ZIL(L)S 48, TREATY 41
Missed: ROMANCE
Homeless: PENATES

Swimming today - annual Manatee Intramural Relays and Deckside Social - goofy relays, lots of food, a chance to talk to folks. Maybe 1200 yards + warmup. My swim suit died ... the latex just completely gave up all at once. I just tossed it in the trash, didn't even bring it home.
