Thunderstorms!

Jul 25, 2011 18:27

Hot and humid yesterday ... light showers this morning, sunny and temps in the high 70's early, now the temperature has dropped into the 60's, the wind in picking up, rain showers and thunder ... I plan on sitting out here on the covered porch and enjoying the weather.

Work was closed today ... one of the young women, just a few months older than my son, was killed in an accident on Thursday. Her funeral was today. I didn't look at my email messages to get the notice until I was already pulling into the parking lot. I had just driven past the cemetery, and there was a lot of vehicles parked along the road ... the men of the tribe hand dig the graves for each burial, part of the respect paid by the tribe. It would be improper to use machinery to open the earth for a burial.

I appreciate the day off, a bit more time to process my feelings from yesterday, I went back to bed for a couple extra hours of sleep than I worked on my projects. All of the stitching is done on the needlepoint scrabble board. Next I have brass corners and flat bars to bind into the edges to keep it square, taut and flat. I will post photos soon ...

I also finished my entries for the annual Fish Frenzy fundraiser for the local arts center ....  jigsaw puzzle piece mosaics again, photos to follow.

Next I need to bake some huckleberry muffins, I have about 3 more cups of wild huckleberries that I gathered yesterday. It is a treat to have a patch of huckleberry bushes at the edge of my yard

The first band of weather seems to have blown through, just light rain at the moment, the big storms should be here in the next 30 minutes or so ....

Darn, the center of the storm slipped north of here. An hour later and it has already moved on into Canada ...
