Music Parties and Record Companies

I have a lot I want to update about right now, so this may turn into a long-winded rambling post that doesn't make much sense.

The past few days have been a lot of fun. It was great catching up with Justin, Nick and Hannah again and to meet Katie. The Tosco house has probably become one of my favorite places to be. It has such a warm and friendly vibe. You don't feel like you're intruding if you stay a couple nights and you don't feel rude if you help yourself to a drink or snack. You just feel comfortable being there.
Justin and I were up until the early hours of the morning the other day, talking. Holding a conversation with him is so easy. With some friends, I find it hard to open up to them. Conversation sticks to safe topics, like filling them in on day to day activities, but it's a lot easier to talk to Justin. He listens, he offers advice when needed and he can be trusted. He's genuine and it's not very often you can find someone like that. We get along well and it's safe to say he's one of my best friends.
The Music Party was a lot of fun. Taylor and I even performed a song together, which sounded reasonably good considering we hadn't really prepared it.
We're back in L.A. now, Taylor's needed for some stuff related to their new album and I'm required for a pretty important meeting tomorrow. To cut a long story short, after tomorrow I'll no longer be with Elektra Records. After various meetings and working on the demos, I've realized that signing with Elektra isn't right for me. I feel like they have no faith in me, like they want to mould me into something I'm not. And I can't be with a label that won't let me create my own music.
So, after lots of thinking I've decided to let this deal go. I'll go back to sending demos out to record companies and pray something else comes up for me. This has been a hard decision for me to make, but I feel it needed to be done.
