Oh, hey, so Orphan Black. I loved it. I watched all ten episodes in a day and a half and loved it more with every episode I watched.
Very tightly plotted in that "WTF just happened?" way.
I love all the characters, even the ones I didn't like at first, like Paul. I hated Paul in the beginning because he seemed so clueless and plastic, and then ep. 6 "Variations Under Domestication" happened and he [Spoiler (click to open)]beat the shit out of Vic and put the drugged whiskey back on the shelf and suddenly not only was I a Paul fangirl retroactive to the first episode but Sarah/Paul is totally true love 4ever and I will hear nothing else. (It's killing me there isn't any fic out there. No on A03, not on ffnet, nothing. Never does everyone abandoning LJ hurt more than when I discover a new fandom.)
Alison is my favorite, of course. She's everybody's favorite, rightfully. It's really fucking strange to think that the same actress who plays Alison also plays Helena. That those two characters exist in the same show, let alone in the same person, is mind blowing.
My Helena feelings are complicated. I think she needs a long hug, but I think that hug should maybe come from a straight jacket? It's interesting from a storytelling perspective, what they've done with her, but she alternately makes my heart hurt and my skin crawl. [Spoiler (click to open)]I think I'm not unhappy that she'd dead, if she's dead, but I think having the immediate antagonist be Sarah's literal dark mirror was an incredible impetus for the story. I'm worried they won't be able to tell such visceral stories not having Helena there to send the plot into overdrive. Hopefully Rachel is as well written as Helena was. We'll see how things unfold next year.
I love Cosmia, but it's a "Good lord I want to smack you until you see sense" kind of love. I'm afraid her fascination with the science behind their situation is going to be her downfall. I just hope she doesn't take anybody else down with her.
I really, really, really wish this show was coming back before next spring. Ten episodes isn't nearly enough.
