If you want a job doing, do it yourself...

Ha! Fixed the internet. The socket in my new apartment was broken and the person who should have been able to fix it was away or something. So I crawled down with a screwdriver and fixed it myself. I am so manly its not even funny.

OK, I'm settled in and I'm living with three Spanish girls and one non-speaking, non-seen girl. This was allotted by random. One of the Spanish girls is called Kathy and she speaks good English and is great fun to talk to. The other two Spanish girls don't speak English very much. They're also good looking and wander round the house in incredibly short shorts, which does my head in! And there's two of them, which decreases the acceptable places to look by another 90 degrees. I practically have to turn around. :p

I've been writing furiously. I've been quite angry over the past twenty four hours and it's all gone into my original fiction, which is shaking me up a bit. My dad used to tell that a fire should always have a heart, and I've applied this to writing. I planned the story to have a heart right in the middle, when everything builds up to breaking point and everything falls apart, and then we have a kind of transformative chapter, where the characters themselves change under the huge pressure they are in.

Anyway, this combined with the fact that I've been a bit angry, has led to some interesting fireworks. It's been great fun to write. Although I may have to tone it down on second draft!

I've also been doing a story for the SQ. It'll probably by five chapters long and is called "The Ties that Bind" and is about love, family and human connection. It's kind of a memory fic, focusing on the Weasley's, including Percy. The basic plot is that Dumbledore put up additional protection around the Burrow when he found out about the Harry/Ginny thing, in the form of a charm which only allows those "tied" to the Weasley family to get in. This is kind of tested through memories, so that each person finds a memory (or memories) drawn to their head which epitomises their ties to the family. Anyway, Voldemort, who wants to hurt Harry, decides to kidnap Percy and steal memories from his head so he can get into the Burrow. Things go wrong, yada yada! Still, it's been fun to write so far.

And, by the by, France are beating Portugal. Take that, Christiano, you great ponce. And Dernhelm will be happy... which is kind of bad, 'cause she'll probably gloat! :p

I have a job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck! Hope you're all well. I may still not be online much, as I'm leaving for home and a party tomorrow and may visit my girlfriend early next week if I get a chance. Take care, all.

ETA: Anyone missing the quill can check out the SQ chatroom, here: http://client0.sigmachat.com/sc.pl?id=135390 not that there's anyone in there, at the mo!
