OK, I have a running theory here...
Man was in a cave. Killing and eating. Burping, killing and eating. Life was good.
Then came woman.
He would go out to hunt and gather, and come home to find her with another man. You know, because she was COLD.
So man invented fire and a noose.
Ahh, warm cave. Woman begins to COOK the meat. WARM meat.
Man likes cold meat, but what the hell. Warm meat is good! But it takes a long time to make.
So woman invents "honey-do" lists to keep man busy. Very busy. Very very very busy.
So now, he doesn't complain about eating the warm food.
Woman makes him wash his hands.
Woman now insists that the food is too hot to eat with hands that are clean.
So man invents the fork.
Big mistake.
Woman invents table manners. And dress code. And cleaning up after dinner.
So man is ready for bed. Need woman to keep him warm. Woman suggest fire do that.
She is making list of chores for next day.
She is also creating a new way to eat grass for dinner.
Now man has to wipe his feet somewhere other than the grass.
Man needs someplace to get away.
