I say, "Bring on a pandemic!" We need a massive population reduction right now. Our planet is overpopulated. Just think of the pollution problems we'll have soon. We are really kidding ourselves when we 'recycle'. If you look at the list of things they really do recycle it's nothing compared to our rate of consumption. Hey it would suck to lose a lot of people I love but it just might reduce my class to a teachable size (added bonus to the redux in people and trash)! Yes that's egotistically assuming I wouldn't go. Even if I did go it would make it a lot easier for my replacement.

Only, what, three weeks in the public school system and already so jaded? :o How big is your class, anyway? Do you have an aide? Parent helpers?
You know, they could USE some more people in Alaska. They pay you just to live there, you know?
And let's hear it for replacing our income tax with a consumption tax!(national sales tax) The more of our earth's natural resources you consume, the more you pay.

I had a few substitute aides but the district decided that I wasn't going to get an "overload" aide any more. I do have parent volunteers but I'm not organized enough to have them start (ah!) I checked into teaching in Alaska and they only need teachers in the "back country" where nearly no one wants to live. They have plenty of teachers in the places like Anchorage.
