They say in the home and security business that the highest group of buyers are the ones that just got broken into.
I got broken into.
But not just my clinic. A total of 5 local business in 2 separate buildings got hit.
1. The physical therapists
2. The carpet cleaners (one of their vans was stolen aka: the getaway vehicle)
3. The oncologist
4. The massage therapy clinic
5. Me
They broke into each business by breaking windows, or doors with windows in them, or doors made out of glass. Mine had a steel door with a glass window.
So what did these hoodlems do?
1. break in window.
2. leave $18,000 bone density machine but steal the large case it was in
3. take a laptop computer, but leave 2 more behind
4. steal a CD stereo, another speaker, tools knives, a large jar of loose change
5. And then... my safe - $400 cash and a few thousand in checks, and Seahawk season tickets belonging to my associate Dr.
Not to mention opening, cooking and eating staff food from the refrigerator and using the microwave to cook it.
Probably a total loss of $10,000.
It all started out nice. I woke up, had a nice cup of java courtesy of
madchengesprach while she and
jonsthoughts were over at the church singing a playing piano for 9:30 mass, and just answered my email when my phone rang.
"Hello, Dr. Dreessen?"
"Yes"
"Our building was broken into, they hit your place too"
"Were the cops called?"
"Yes, they are here now"
"I'm on my way"
Who knew that it would take me a whole day to deal with this crap. They were such weird thieves too. They left tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and electronics. They took a safe without the combo or key.
Shock, despair, anger, annoyance, resentment, identity theft fear, not knowing ALL that may have been taken, Labor day Sunday, $250 locksmith charge (my spare/master keys were in the safe)
It ended 12 hours later on the deck with a few scotches and a nice cigar with my associate Dr. and
madchengesprach's lovely turkey sandwich and kisses.
And a nice hot tub soak.
And a Labor day Monday to finish building my storage shed - which was supposed to be finished today.
I sure hope those idiots use the Seahawk tickets...
