i am amazed
and so curious,
are there as many types of people
as there are uniquely shaped leaves?
beautiful colors all around
yes i mean the ones we walk on!
you hardly pay attention, i see..
take a closer look:
and then step back and look at yourself
compare you and me:
oak or maple or gingko or chestnut or cherry
red or yellow
speckled or rippled
damp or crisp
stems straight, stems curved
edges soft, scalloped, or sharp
then look at your own life:
pointed personality
solidly colored,
or are you marred and dimpled
with moist nights,
and frosty mornings?
does your aura smell as good
as this pile i have laid down in?
does your smile
tickle me as much
as each sticky oaken spattering on the hill
where i tootsie-rolled in insane laughter?
do you have any idea what i mean here?
