I have phone calls to make, emails to write, photos to process, dishes to wash, a back-log of semi-important projects -- cleaning, craft, purging, organizing, all the usual (losing) battles against entropy. Need to make a supermarket run, clear the debris out of my car, change the sheets on my bed. Should be making an effort to connect with friends & family. I've had 4 days off to work on this stuff. It didn't happen then and it ain't happening tonight. I gotta get a grip, here. I did wash clothes, thank god, so at least I won't stink at work tomorrow. Literally. Maybe metaphorically, though.

Yesterday I made a long overdue sojourn to Fort Pickens, one of my old stomping grounds. It's one of the Gulf Islands National Seashore parks. Man, I forgot how much I love that place. I'm hoping it's rekindled another ember of interest from my past: birding. When I got home last night I ordered a cheap pair of binoculars. Can't believe I've lived for YEARS without binos! Now to compare my photos from yesterday to my Peterson and Sibley field guides. (Ironically, my old Audubon guide sucks.) I'll keep you posted.
