well, i'm all packed and ready to go. i managed to do just about all of it in just two days; i don't generally live in squalor, so packing up was not about cleaning, it was about sorting, stowing, and disposing.
it has been the saddest (and LONGEST) day of goodbyes. probably 85% of my housemates' contracts ended yesterday (we celebrated raucously until the wee hours of the morn), and we each get three days to leave the country, so people started leaving today and it was SOOOO sad. :( i, myself, have a hideous 8:00AM flight, and my cab arrives here at the house at 5:00AM. i land at JFK at 9:30AM, so--if i wish to have ANY hope of staving off the lag--i need to be able to stay awake and push through an entire day on new york time. in anticipation of this, i have been trying to stay awake all night (i cheated and took a couple of short power naps), so that i will be knocked out on the plane for most of the way home. this way, my body clock will start to adjust. oh, the perils of world traveling. :)
i didn't figure anyone would be seeing me off at 5:00AM, but my castmates are all coming down to say goodbye. that is going to be the SADDEST. THING. EVER. as i've said before, we're like a small family... it's all about unconditional love (and always calling out each other's bullshit!).
here i am now, just an hour and a half away from leaving my cute little apartment behind. it has been just such an incredible year. one of the most amazing things i've ever done in my life. i am absolutely awestruck by how fast it went by. i feel as if i just got here.
so keep me in your thoughts and prayers as i fly halfway 'round the world. christopher never sent me any xanax for the trip, so it looks like i have a date with the free liquor offerings and mr. sandman.
thanks for letting me share my experience with you this year. now, 2009 is MINE!
