driving south
grey road winding through the ochre red country
white posts holding it down and pacing out the seconds
hot sun gleaming off the road and trees
small towns slowing you down
greedy car guzzling fuel
thirsty driver sipping water
the sun sets in an incandescent ball
blinding, dazzling, slowing the car
sunset in all it's glory spreads before you
dusk settles like a blinding fog in a grey cloak
sheep crossing
one less now as the spotlight fragments clatter on the windscreen
the car bumps and thuds
wool collects in the grill
as night falls the silver bowl of the moon spills its luminescence
the black velvet sky is cluttered with glittering stars
shadow trees loom over the road
great monsters lit up like oblong christmas trees rush at you round corners
red and white cats eyes keep you on the road
white lines dots and dashes direct you
first traffic lights bring you close to home
traffic builds up as the city absorbs the stars
