5.2 New world - New Businesses

Long time, no see for Birka

Week 5 - Tracy Maine

Tracy and her family wakes up on Monday, to a completely new world. For one, Tracy all of a sudden wishes to buy a cat or dog.

Unfortunately, not everything has changed. This week too starts with the family having to strip the house of wallpaper an tiles to be able to pay the taxes. Difference is that they have so much more tile, after the big house make-over last week.

She invites Margareta Stolt over to sing a folk song that they both all of a sudden know

Back to business at the Maine House, Greta gets the House to level 5. The last cash price is for 50.000 simoleons! Time to think about the new business opportunities that have revealed themselves - maybe a Maine Scene would be the next natural step for a family with a Romance Father, Pleasure Mother and Popularity teen!

And why not have a date while you work? The guests are entertaining themselves perfectly fine at the poker table.

And we reach level 6 and are still here!

There is a certain fashion in hair in Birka. I think Ludde’s planned beauty salon is really needed.

Nero buys the new lot and names it Secondary Scene (as opposed to Maine, hehe). He’s starting Birka’s first music scene, which will unlock the Music Career. It will also give 1 opening in the Architecture career, since the Secondary Scene is our 10th lot.

The club looks like an old factory on the outside, with graffitti on the brick walls

The inside holds the bare essentials and has an industrial feel to it, too

The first night it is Knut on drums and Anton on piano, taking their chances to earn their 15 minutes of fame.

Back home Tracy spots a Canadian Goose, and finds that Nature is her preferred hobby.

Huh! It’s raining!

Brittany discovers that her preferred hobby is Nature. I knew that, since her hobby panel said so, that’s why I planned the garden for her. How come she didn’t know? She still hasn´t got any new clothes, poor girl. Maybe now the family economy has room for a little extravaganza.

The Maine House is still popular, even though Tracy raised the price to 7§/hour. Some people are even dancing sometimes!

And then, the mandatory good-grades picture. Way to go Brittany!

Nero and Brittany goes to Secondary Scene and do a gig together. They are quite good!

Anton and Amar joins in. It’s a great afternoon at the Scene!

So great in fact that the business reaches level 1!

Nero invites Ludde to an outing to Scondary Scene. The place is wildly popular, and people are pouring in as soon as he opens the place, pushing it to level 2.

Tracy needs creativity points to be promoted from her current job as a Music Store Clerk. She combines creativity building with money-making by writing a book.

But first - family poker at the Maine House. They all have formal wear as the uniforms, I think it looks nice in this surrounding.

Huh! Something happened to Susanne! Maybe we will find out what it was when we get back to her next. Brittany and Susanne shares an interest in best friends and have a lot to say to each other on the matter.

On Saturday Brittany does as most teens do - bring her girl friends to the mall, shopping. Or, the closest you get to a mall in Birka - Ekte Norsk. The girls gossip about Audhild’s father Magnus. Perfectly normal for teen girls.

Then Brittany makes herself useful and goes grocery shopping. She gets harassed by a local boy that she never met, is it the High School Chronicle?

Back home, she slips into her new outfit, and chooses a new haircut. Popularity Brittany looks great, and she cheered for her new style at the mirror. I’m satisfied :)

One cold winter’s night, Brittany ends up in the love tub with Örjan Mossberg, one-bolter. He’s making a move...

Look at those fingers tangled together! I just love when black and white hands come together like that, it looks very beautiful!

Much to Örjan’s disappointment, Brittany’s not THAT kind of a girl! Good for you, Brittany! And there the week is over at the Maine house

Week 5 - Susanne Suffolk

The Suffolk sisters, Chloe and Elaine, are playing nicely together, blissfully ignorant that the family’s collected fortune is 96§ and the week’s tax due is 1.826§. Actually it’s the tax for two weeks, since they forgot to pay last week’s taxes.

They end up having to sell carpets, couches and the beautiful wall panels in the kitchen/living room.

Do you remember that Susanne showed up all charred at the Maine House recently? Nothing in her memories give us the slightest hint of what happened. Strange!

And Chloe is of course doing great in school. She’s a smart girl! Anton is making pre-cooked meals for his grocery store.

Here we are, back at Walfridsson’s Kolonial. Doesn’t it look idyllic? The Critic is here though! Better shape up. Anton didn’t even have a chance to change into his work clothes before the commerce was in full swing!

This scene gives me flash-backs to my ISBI challenge. Smustling party for two!

And now for something completely different - Elaine’s birthday! Look at all the people we’ve invited! This is news for Birka, indeed, and very good for Popularity sims like Susanne and Anton.

Elaine is extremely outgoing and rushes off immediately to have some fun with someone, anyone, who happens to be Wilma Norman at this time.

And it just so happens that today is Chloe’s birthday, too. Congratulations, Chloe!

She rolls Knowledge (with no Uni…) and turns on from athletes with jewellery and turns off from full-face make-up. I nearly thought she would be inclined to soccer hooligans, but obviously not, since she doesn’t like full-face make-up J

(And Curt hates Maria, like everyone else. Another evidence that my sim-me is nothing like my IRL-me :D)

Chloe’s LTW is to become a City Planner. Good for her that there’s an opening in that field already!

Chloe finds that she’s got the hots for Gabriel, her childhood friend. Alas, there’s only one bolt.
On the other hand, you can’t be picky in Birka. If you find a spark at all, you’re lucky!

Back at Walfridsson’s Kolonial. Something happened in Birka when it was moved from the other computer. All uniforms are still available, but everybody´s got brown hair, brown eyes and no make-up when in uniform. Anton looks strange, it’s a miracle if you recognize him.

Anton is working his shop, and most of the time, it goes great. Here we see Anton (Walfridsson) Suffolk, dealing with one of the most complicated persons in Birka. He’s constantly complaining about something. However, today he helps the grocery store to reach a level 4 status.

Susanne is promoted to Flight Officer and is met by the door by her daughter Elaine.

Chloe needs some new clothes, and goes to Ekte Norsk on Saturday. She will also change her hair to something she’ll cheer for.

Anton is buying another lot, Suffolk Saloon, which will be a simpler restaurant with a Wild West theme

Anton: ”This place has potential, and we will develop it together! These are our new work clothes! I might just have to add a moustasch to the uniform”

Chloe: “I was just wondering where my father went and where this boy came from”

Sunday is an extremely cold day, and the family decides to keep inside. Susanne is maxing her Creativity skill, while Elaine and Chloe are learning machanics. It will come in handy, since everyone still needs to take care of all fixing themselves.

Anton is however going to serve the public in his grocery store, and reaches level 4.

By nightfall Susanne is selling her first masterpiece, and the headmaster is visiting.

The headmaster is impressed, but Anton really needs to go! The headmaster really needs a new haircut, though, better get him an appointment with Ludde
