in lunch today, my friend christine showed me this christian teen magazine one kid at the table was given at a church. holy shit, we all laughed so hard. i couldn't believe how absurd it was!!! the authors of this magazine (along with a lot of other strict christian organizations) felt that they had the right to give girls specific guidlines on how to date, who to date, and what to do while dating!!! i mean, this was a page or so long!!
first of all, i'm christian, but i'm not churchy or strict. so i'm not bashing the religion, just the attitudes some people have. ok, on to the fun stuff, here are guidelines that the article gave teen girls on telling them how to date...
"only date christians"
"pray about dating"
"only go on double dates"
"make sure your parents meet them first"
"explain to them your christian and dating standards"
"only hold hands when it is more than a friendship"
"only kiss when you know you are definitely together"
"avoid any caressing, or touching, or sexual activities"
i think it's crazy. i mean, people like this don't want teens to get any dating experience, until they're married, but then how do they know much about dating, how to deal with relationships, what they want out of a relationship? it's just crazy. it's like they don't think teens can make their own decisions for themselves, let alone they don't want them to at all! stupid conformist dictatating religion crazed people.
