Kyomoto Taiga and Kochi Yugo are representing SixTONES, who have released their 4th single “Boku ga boku jya nai mitai da” on 17 Feb. Firstly, starting with the highlight of the new songs.
Kochi: As “Boku boku (Boku ga boku jya nai mitai da)” has lyrics with a strong narrative, like how the story develops in the 1st and 2nd verse, it is a song that shows the main lead’s change of heart. It’s a song that’s fun whether you are singing it or listening to it.
Taiga: That’s right. I like the ending part of the 2nd verse. Hokuto sings his heart out and then the members harmonize. I like how the members participate in it to support Hokuto at that part.
Kochi: It sounds really good while listening too. But when we were singing it in concerts, I once again felt that it is a difficult song to sing.
Taiga: Yeah. The melody line is super duper hard, right? When singing, I become lost quite easily. But I glossed over it during the concerts…
Kochi: That’s how it was, huh (LOL)
Taiga: I sang it like I had rearranged it, but I actually made small mistakes (LOL). The bridge was super difficult!
Kochi: It is indeed difficult.
Taiga: It requires special attention when singing it in karaoke, so it might be quite hard.
Kochi: You will know when you sing it, right?
Taiga: Although the song feels catchy and easy to sing, when you sing it, you would be like “Eh?”. I think that this is one of the most difficult-to-sing songs in SixTONES’ history
The new song serves as the “Liar x Liar” theme song, with Matsumura Hokuto as the main lead in the movie. Linking to the love story with the ‘liar’ theme, are there any experiences where you’ve lied to the members?
Kochi: We generally just lie (LOL). Because we lie too much, we aren’t able to tell which is the lie.
Taiga: It’s bad if it’s to the extent that you can’t tell which is a lie (LOL)
Kochi: ...And that is a lie too.
Taiga: (LOL). Rather than lying, I prefer to trick people with pranks. I often lie by saying things like, “The dance teacher called for you”. Shime often falls for it easily, right?
Kochi: Because he is pure.
Taiga: Previously, when they brought out a huge Korokke at a restaurant, I said, “This is a takoyaki”.
Kochi: What sort of lie is that! (LOL)
Taiga: Normally, you would notice it immediately, right? But Shime said, “It is big for a takoyaki~” while eating it. And then went “There is no octopus” (LOL)
Kochi: He is too pure~
Taiga: When I revealed that it is actually a Korokke, “No wonder I thought that the skin was thick”. That’s because it is not the skin but the coating.
Kochi: AHAHAHA!
Taiga: In SixTONES, everyone lies to Jesse, right? Like when he reads wrongly.
Kochi: We would say, “It’s correct”
Taiga: We will confuse him (LOL). But, Jesse also kind of notices it.
Kochi: He will just play along thinking it’s favourable. And the place where that was truly shown was in “KinSuma”’s prank. He had noticed that it was a prank, yet he worked hard on the reactions and pretended he didn’t notice~.
Taiga: Ahaha that was crazy. That was a moment when a layer of Jesse was peeled off(LOL). From now on, the way Jesse presents himself on variety shows may change
Kochi: If that’s the case, he probably will say, “I can be a model after all”
Taiga: (LOL). But then, he totally can work as a model.
Kochi: That’s the point. In the end, Jesse can do anything~
Since the two of you appeared together this time, if you had to put a catchphrase to your relationship, what would it be?
Taiga: Wouldn’t it be “Light and Shadow”?
Kochi: That’s nice. I’m the “Light”
Taiga: No matter how you think of it, I’m the “Shadow” (LOL). The important point about this is that this isn’t “Light and Dark” but “Shadow”.
Kochi: It was “Dark” when we were juniors, but apparently that changed to “Shadow”
Taiga: With a bit more, it’d be shade under a tree.
Kochi: It’s “Shade” and “Sun”, right? Even though we said that, in reality, we are quite alike (LOL).
Taiga: We are just “the one that wants to be the light” and “the one that wants to be the shadow”, but in reality, we are just humans (LOL). Our principles, or rather energy level, are pretty much the same, so it’s comfortable, right?
Kochi: For hotel rooms too, I’m mostly with Taiga. But then, we don’t really hang out during our private time.
Taiga: About the level where we have ramen together when we have long trips or when work finishes early? Messages too, personally…(checks phone) Ah! Ukulele!
Kochi: Ah~! There was that (LOL).
Taiga: Looking back to about last September, Kochi bought a Ukulele and I also joined in and bought one right after. Then I took a video of me saying, “I bought a Ukulele too~” while playing it, edited it into monotone and sent it to Kochi.
Kochi: (Checking the message) I then replied, “That edit is annoying” (LOL).
Taiga: What was the phone call on 19th Jan about?
Kochi: It’s that! Otoshidama (New Year’s gift- usually money)!
Taiga: In a TV show, I was asked, “Who did you receive Otoshidama from?” and I thought it would be rude if I left out someone by mistake, so I called Kochi to cross-check. From the toilet, 2 to 3 minutes before the recording began.
Kochi: Right x2. We have mysterious episodes of back and forth like that now and then.
Taiga: We normally talk in our group chat. SixTONES’ group chat is really active.
Kochi: Yeah. Taiga and I aren’t the type to share our off days, but Shintaro and Jesse are seriously crazy. They message about everything.
Taiga: With pictures attached. It has become like SNS. And then the other members will look and comment on them
Kochi: Though Taiga and I don’t (comment).
Taiga: That’s right. We mostly just reply when it comes to work.
Kochi: The last time Taiga sent a message was...the 3rd Vanilla Ice Cream (LOL).
Taiga: We were talking about what each of us was up to, so I took a selfie of me eating my favourite ice cream.
Kochi: That one was when Juri and I were in the midst of a live radio program (SixTONES ANN).
Taiga: The group chat is pretty active during the radio, right? Like saying how fun it was.
Kochi: Right x2. Looking back at it like this, we are really close, huh~
