Theme: Ambitions, Aspirations
Though I do want to improve and progress even just by a bit from who I am now, I don’t know if these can be called ambitions and aspirations.
When I used to do karate, I did think that I had something like an ambition. Right now, both personally and as SixTONES, I place importance on not having goals like, “I will definitely become like this!”
I don’t want to crush the possibilities by holding on strongly to my goals, and when we end up walking a path different from what we had imagined, I don’t want us to think “We weren't able to walk that path huh...” I also feel that we are not in a position to say “We have to do it like that” as we are still nobodies. This probably is what all the members feel, as we strangely come to have such similar thoughts naturally.
My thoughts are similar regarding overseas activities too. I personally feel like it wouldn’t be too bad to have a group that is focusing their activities primarily in Japan while holding the thing called “world” close to them. Rather than doing any special activities targeted for overseas markets, we can probably perceive it in a more wide manner. Like how Japan is part of the world, we can also think of the places outside of Japan as part of the world.. In that sense, I am really grateful that our “Imitation Rain” MV was played on MTV. This is all thanks to our fans, and is a brilliant achievement right? Since “Inuyasha” is a popular anime overseas, I’d be grateful even if just a single person who watches the anime and comes to know us through the OP of “Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon” gets interested in us.
If I had to talk about my ideal future for SixTONES, who do not have any goals, that would be that we are still a group that can do drive trips even decades later. I want us to be told, “You guys are more interesting when there is no budget, it can’t be helped” (LOL).
Individually, even though I do acting jobs, I don’t really have a goal like I mentioned earlier. Rather than doing jobs to fulfill my goals, it’s more like I’m doing them now because I find them fun. Of course, I give it my all in order to produce good works and when the completed work is something that makes me satisfied, it makes me the happiest.
Acting is not something that leads you to find the correct answer on your own, and there may be times when I feel that the feedback from others is very important. Though I currently don’t know if that will take a physical form like awards.
While it isn’t something easy, what I want to do specifically is to act in an independent cinema. While there are lots of good parts in all pieces of works, I feel like there is a unique attraction that only independent cinemas hold.
